Poll: What point of view do you use in Fallout 3?

First feels cooler, though I'm hyper-paranoid, so out in the wastes and around tight corridors, I'll be in third. I also place mines at every door entrance before I open them and only collect them once everything is cleared. I think it takes from any scares/immersion, though.

Which I guess you could do.

I'm seeing this in Bethesda's future games somehow 0__0...but, yet again, no ones gonna use it.

First for combat and all the fun stuff. Third for when I'm running through the wasteland, when I'm looking at my character, or when I'm sneaking.

I use first, like other people say, nice to check out new gear in 3rd. Raargh, Space Lincoln rides again!

I used to only use third, as I'm a stealth gamer, and it's easier to use third for stealth, as you can see around corners and such. I've been switching more to first though, and now only use third when sneaking.

First. Third, as is most common, I tend to just use to see how cool I look wearing Tesla armour. Or ridiculous, if my character is wearing a flowery dress and an Eyebot helmet

I know exactly what you mean. In Fallout and Oblivion, I'm so paranoid that i can't travel at night....I just wait til morning..., and I usually can't swim either. I'm to ascared of fishies biting me feetsies... =D

Third person is very useful in buildings for seeing whats around a corner when sneaking, and useful for spotting traps in doorways that you'd otherwise just walk through and set off. Impossible to fight in it really unless you just use VATS though I think. I don't use it to look at my character as it looks ridiculous; chinese stealth armour plus about 8 or 9 hats doesn't make for the most fashionable of looks. Worth it for an easy 10 perception though!

Early on I used a very close-up third-person view, but the aiming felt very unintuitive like that, so I switched to first-person and have stuck with it 99.8% of the time.

And running looks so retarded in third-person.

And since I get lost a lot in the wasteland, I'm running around an awful lot.

I don't play Fallout 3, want to though. However, I saw a friend play and he always stayed in 1st person. I also do the same in Oblivion. I don't see why someone would use 3rd person, it's just too disorienting for me...

More to the point, if you're male and you're playing a female character, you'll probably use third to check her out.
