Poll: What primarily influences you to buy a NEW console?

Basically agree with the masses, I'm a hardware guy myself I love technology for the sake of it but even I can see the point of a console is the games.

heck, I just dug out my old psp yesterday so I could 'finally' get around to finishing off tekken and wipeout, yes I know I'm a slacker.

as for the next gen's only forza and watchdogs even remotely interest me and i just don't think they can deliver on their price-tag, so I won't bother at all for now.

In my book that counts as either new Mass Effect or KOTOR, Skies of Arcadia, Banjo and Kazooie 3 (A real Banjo and Kazooie, not vehicles) Supreme Commander, Valkyria Chronicles (By that I mean the original not the spin offs), TC Endwar, Ace Combat or Binary Domain.

The announcement of any combination of these will see me immediately part with my cash(As soon as a solid evidence of it exists and I receive a written acknowledgement that this will go ahead as intended signed by the head of game development in their own blood, just to be sure) but until that day I plan to continue using the Xbox 360 which works perfectly well and whose Game library speaks volumes about my personality and has been carefully built over the last eight years to as individual a reflection of its user as any other lifestyle choice. Anything short of that leaves me unconvinced that its worth spending £350 - £400 buying a whole new system to get marginally better graphics with the added burden of social media add ons, the looming threat of game restrictions and Microsoft actively dancing around the issue of exactly what they plan to do with any data their system might conveniently intercept.

Personally, I?m going to avoid next gen consoles for as long as I can and try to get away with simply hooking up a controller to my PC until it finally reaches its limit.

Traditionally i used to buy new consoles because i had to have the new thing (yup, i was a sheep). Nowadays though the reason i'll end up buying a new console is because my last generation console has broken yet again and after a while people will start talking down to me about my gaming skills until they piss me off enough to absolutely destroy them and their scores as always.

To be honest though i'm finding far more entertainment in my rediscovery of reading than i have got from gaming in the last few years. Too much practice has made my gaming too easy and without challenge there is no point for me.

Everything i need is on PC. So, unfortunately, console exclusives would be what gets me to buy one of the new consoles. I hate that exclusives are even a thing, but if an exclusive game comes out that just looks brilliant, and i have enough money, i might drop money on a console (Most likely a PS4).

Games I like.

I'm not buying a PS4 until Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III are both out. Until then, I plan on getting a Wii U for Wind Waker, X, and the inevitable new Zelda, as well as so I can catch up on Wii games (Xenoblade, Skyward Sword, Last Story, and Pandora's Tower.)
