Build-a-Bear is the greatest scam ever created.
In theory and in practice, it's truly an amazing business. You gather groups of 2-7 year old children (probably girls) the have more that likely been spoiled by their parents (if they didn't have money to spoil them, they wouldn't be in a Build-a-Bear). Get them to buy a $15-25 stuffed animal skin and have them go through the ritual of stuffing, putting in the heart, and naming the bear. At this point, their incredibly attached to this animal.
Then cover the walls in overpriced stuffed animal clothing. Each bear has to have an outfit according to the children, then the store workers say that you can't have a bear wear clothes without underwear, and then they need a purse or some suglasses or, who knows, a lightsaber, and these kids begin wanting one of each.
By the time you've escaped, you've spent a minimum of $50 on a STUFFED ANIMAL. Nothing special about it except for their ability to put parents at the mercy of their children. It's an unbelievable racket.
