The online players.

Despite all issues, online multiplayer for me was actually enjoyable. Sadly it was all the players who hacked, cheat, and camp their way to win that ruined it.

For me it was the short single player. I like multiplayer and all but I usually buy console games based on their single player quality.

Same here. It doesn't help that the ending was akin to the shenanigans of Halo 2's ending.

Whiny kids are a problem in any online game these days, but you can just mute them.

But the problem with MW2 (despite the fact that I like the game) is that it's the only game people play.
Every time I go online on the PS3, I always get a message saying "Modern Warfare 2: I would like you to join my party" and I keep telling them i want to play alone/another game but it keeps happening. That, and the lack of variety in ways to kill (watch any top 10 kills video and its always either quickscoping or someone getting a 5 kill streak in 5 seconds).

None of these - Excessive focus on Multiplayer which for me quickly becomes a repetitive blur of shooting things for no reason other than to kill things in other ways.

Some will disagree, some will agree. It doesnt really concern me.

Definitely hax/glitches are worst. There should have been a beta. Speaking of which, why hasn't IW released beta for CoD: Black Ops and learned from their mistakes?

Infinity Ward is what ruined Modern Warfare 2 with their inability to balance a game properly and need to churn out a cheap cash in fratboy shooter. Modern Warfare 1 had balance issues due to a couple of perks and kill streaks, but Modern Warfare 2 made them a hundred times worse. It really makes me wonder if the game was even seriously play tested.

I think the problem is that its a $60 dollar mod. They didn't change the engine, they added new weapons, more online levels/maps and tricked all of you into buying a mod. You can reskin all the MW1 weapons and save yourself 60 bucks.

The relative evenness of each of the results shows that all of the above kill the game combined.
For me however what really takes the biscuit is the fact that it doesn't bloody work! I shoot someone and 2 seconds later the bullet hits them, im sure other games don't have that problem.

Crappy single player. The first time I ran through it on normal took all of 4 hours maybe. Upping the difficulty hardly helps.

I'm okay with the Lone Wolf stuff.
I'm okay with the overpowered killstreaks (sometimes it's a fun challenge to outrun and frustrate an AC130 gunner)
I'm okay with no dedicated servers... mostly
I'm even okay with the lack of gameplay elements and single player campaign.

But the one thing that shits me constantly is people in everyday life calling the game 'COD' and not 'Call of Duty' or even 'Modern Warefare (2)'
Seriously! A cod is a fish, and no i will not play with a cod, nor do i care you're playing with a cod.

The stupid Invite system. (Talking about the PS3 version here)

Firstly: Why does it have to be a Message? Why not COD4s invite system? That actually worked, and it goes with my second point:

Secondly: The FUCKING 'Join Session' idea. It's not a Private Match if EVERYONE one your friends list can join! Followed by their friends. I'm sick of having to end games to kick uninvited scrapers-in, only for them to rejoin the bloody game. PATCH THIS IW.

Black Ops is being made by Treyarch (the COD3 / World at War team)

They said that a public beta would be likely.
