I'm honestly just as surprised as you this hasn't been done yet, at least in poll form, but oh well.

What class in Team Fortress 2 do YOU think takes the most skill to play well (not your personal favorite, though if it is, that's cool)? Poll has left out Pyro because it's obviously not Pyro.

Personally, I think Spy even though I hate playing Spy.

Engineer, because it doesn't just boil down to player skill vs player skill in a firefight, the engi has only a few machines to both support his team, and protect his ass.

Build order, placement, upgrade vs dispenser. Engis need to make quick descisions to keep their presence on the field, while not only using their limited weaponry to protect themselves, but also their team mates.

All the classes have an "Easy to learn, hard to master" factor about them. Some easier to master, some harder to learn. I'd say the Pyro is obviously the easiest to learn, and the spy is the most difficult.

Also, it's "Obviously not Pyro"? That's a little opinionated, don't you think?

Definitely the spy. You have to learn to blend in no matter what the situation is. That, and you have to get behind the enemy without them getting suspicious to go for the backstab. It takes a lot of planning and quick thinking.

On a related note, I'm a terrible spy.

You obviously haven't watched this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndZoP4yctqA

And each class has a unique skill set so it's hard to say what takes the most skill.

Frankly, I think Medic is the most skilled to play. Just due to the fact that you need a skilled medic or your team will, the majority of the time, fail. I don't think Sniper takes much skill due to the fact that you can play with just your mouse, directional keys and a knowledge of where the enemy's head is.

Soldier, followed by the Scout, in my opinion. 3rd place goes to the medic, because staying alive on the front lines whilst keeping someone else alive is NOT an easy task. Being a good heavy, demoman, sniper, and spy take a lot of skill, but I feel the soldier and scout epitomise skilled play. Being a pyro isn't as skilless as people like to imply, and being engineer takes skill too, but it's of a different sort. Everyone requires skill, however.

Sorry to all of the people supporting Pyro. I only had 8 slots for the poll and for the most part, people can rack up ridiculous kills with Pyro without much experience. I was deciding between Heavy or Pyro, but I decided the minigun spinning and having to deal with Scouts gave Heavy a slight edge on the skill-o-meter.

It depends on what you do, people say Pyro takes no skill it's all W+m1, yet I've seen pyros stop uber rushes and 3 more team members rushing in and living to tell about it. It's kinda hard to dismiss that each class has their own skill to using them.

No versus threads. Also shame on you for implying pyro takes no skill.

The class that is hardest to play is the class that is most unlike the player's natural style of play and thinking. If the player is sneaky then spy is easier then heavy but if the player is all about tanking then the opposite is true.

I just can't figure out how to use the Spy efficiently. I'll get there eventually but for now *sigh* back to homework.

Easily the spy. Everyone is always on the lookout for spies, so if a spy can successfully get into an enemy base, sap sentries, and backstab someone without dying they've got a lot of talent. I only play a good spy about 1/4th of the time.

Engy got a lot easier now that you can pick up and move your buildings, so if you're red on a offense/defense game mode, you can build your stuff right outside of your resupply and have turret at level 3 and placed along with a level 2 or 3 dispenser by the time that first minute is up
