Iv lived a very unhealthy life up to this point. I used to burn the candle at both ends and get 4 hours of sleep every night. Then I would sleep for 12-14 hours on my days off because I was so exhausted. It catches up with you. Im not at the age where it would yet, but I know its coming, and I know that once I start regretting it, it will be too late to take it back.
Now I eat healthy, train in Mixed Martial Arts, and sleep 8 hours a night. I also quit smoking weed and drink only a healthy amount of alcohol. My mother barely surviving a cardiac arrest, which required a quintuple bypass (in her 50's), and my father dying from a cardiac embolism (in his 60's) was a real wake up call.
Sleeping for significantly more or less than 8 hours is extremely unhealthy, and the same can be said for staying awake for more or less than 16 hours. Too little sleep is much worse, but too much sleep makes you groggy, less alert, and screws up your attempts to rectify your sleep schedule.
When you're 35 and you feel like you're 50 because you have migraines, chronic back pain, depression, arthritis, or whatever else, it will be too late to fix your problems, and you will have no one to blame but yourself.
