Hybrid Average/explorer. I don't watch a large amount of films each year, but I tend to watch a mixture of old favourites, interesting new releases, classics (geek or not), recommended by friends/media and just whatever happens to be on the telly.

I tend to gravitate towards Sci-Fi, regardless of the particular flavour of Sci-Fi on offer, except Star Trek. For some reason me and Trek just haven't been able to get on. Excluding everything that wasn't to do with the Borg during First Contact. Everything with the guy building the warp drive was awesome, especially the launch.

I put myself down as Explorer.

I watch a lot of movie trailers, so I could tell you the plot summery of most films that will come out in 2014. I usually don't actually watch those movies unless they come to red-box.

Most of the movies I see are from the free On-Demand section, so I like to think I get a decent breadth.

I picked Movie Fan.

I have a pretty broad taste in films. While there are some genres I like more than others (sci-fi being my favourite and western being my least favourite). I usually watch most of the big Oscar contenders each year and often end up enjoying a couple of them quite a bit (Django was my favourite movie last year and Gravity is easily my favourite so far this year). While there are some classics that I really don't like (Citizen Cane), there are many others that I like quite a bit (2001: A Space Oddyssey). On average I probably see about 15 movies in theatres each year and then usually end up seeing some of them again. I saw Gravity twice this year as well as This is the End (ya it's not exactly a movie that is enhanced by being on the big screen but a comedies this funny are always great to see with a large group of people). Anyway, I'm tired so this probably sounds like a lot of rambling so I'll just end by saying I am a huge fan of movies and am not ashamed to cry in a theatre (I think I get a lot more invested in movies than many others).

Movie fan with a touch of explorer. I'm steadily expanding my foreign film horizon, particularly in Asia where I have some familiarity with.

A combination of options 4, 5, and 6 although if I have to pick just one it would probably be explorer. I watch lots of films and it's one of my favourite past times (second only to gaming) and although a lot of those films fall under sci-fi I do like to watch at least a few films from just about every genre. Plus I do make an effort to watch classic films I haven't seen yet and do occasionally look to IMDB when I'm trying to decide what to watch next.

Mixture of all 6 types so your poll responses can't be answered. I am not more of over another. And I am a huge contradiction anyway.

I'd say I was mostly Genre Obsessed. I'll try and watch anything zombie. The problem with that is when I ask for recommendations I nearly always get ones I've already seen.

I'm also a huge horror buff, despite being a huge coward as well. I'll watch at least one horror a week, and sometimes I'll go on binges of 3-4 movies a day if I'm really bored. Usually I end up getting really bad ones, so I can yell and rant at them, which is always fun for me. Not so much for the people in the chat that I decide to unload my yelling in. 8D

I do watch blockbusters and stuff, too, just not as often. I tend to wait until they come out on DVD and just rent it instead of seeing it in the cinema. (Unless it's The Hobbit, totally going to see that even if it's on my own).

I'm a mix of these but most recently I would say 'not interested'. There have been a lot of movies which came and went that I would have loved to have watched but circumstance has kept me out of the theater. Then there's Netflix which is where I go to watch TV shows more often than movies (far more often...95 out of 100). There are of course a number of movies that I absolutely love and would watch whenever the opportunity arises...just not at the theater...

Somewhere between "not interested", "average", and "geek classic"

The frequency with which I watch movies varies considerably from year to year.

At the same time, while there is no major genre that does not have some examples I greatly enjoy, the majority of the films I watch repetitively are definitely in the geeky category.

I think I'd fall into a mix of the geek classic enthusiast and explorer. I LOVE science fiction and fantasy, but if a movie looks good I'll give it a watch no matter what genre. (except maybe romantic comedies.)

I actually am able to watch a movie once and then never have to watch it again. So unless it's an amazing movie I won't go out of my way to watch something multiple times. If it's 10 years-ish since I last saw the movie, then yeah I'll give it another watch. Otherwise if it's 4 years later the plot is still fresh in my mind.

Sadly I've become rather cynical towards movies lately...they just all seem so clichéd, predictable, and stupid (in my own opinion, of course). I think the last movie that I actually saw in theatres was The Dark Knight - yeah, it's been that long - and that was only because I was out with some friends and they wanted to see it.

Another part of it is the cost of going to movies. Tickets, a bag of popcorn, and a drink will set you back a good $20-$25 around my area and the entertainment value of the shows doesn't justify that kind of cost if you ask me.

All this said, however, I've nothing against renting a DVD to watch every now and then. But as far as seeing movies when they come out in theatres, I gave up on that a long time ago.

I guess I'm a mix between not interested and geek classic. I don't mind movies, but watching them isn't my hobby at all. Most of the time I go to the movies because one of my friend wants someone to see a movie with and as I have a lot of free time I go along. Most of the movies I'll see in any given year tend to be the ones entrenched in geek culture, but I'm happy enough to give anything at least one watch, as a rule.

I'm pretty much the "average movie watcher" and I have lived the Geek classic enthusiast seeing how I was born in the late 80's hence I watch films like Ghostbuster and Back to the Future in my childhood.

I would like to be more of the Movie Fan or explorer but I don't have the expensive nor the time to rent out movies on a daily basis.

Not Interested:

This is the most appropriate classification for me. If you exclude the last year, I went about 10 years with seeing maybe 10 movies I hadn't seen before.

What changed last year? Netflix
I primarily use it for t.v series but I've since watched a few dozen movies. Mostly 80's -90's horror stuff that I wanted to watch growing up but never showed up on t.v and couldn't afford to rent. I'd still classify myself as 'not interested' when it comes to movies though as I typically use them as a last resort activity.

This is mostly due to the fact that nearly every movie that comes recommended to me is something I don't end up getting invested in. I LOVED movies like Die Hard, T2, Rocky 4 growing up but I can't find that kind of action movie that interests me today. Rince and repeat for many other genres. There are occasional exceptions though...Cabin in the Woods and Dredd are now among the few newer generation movies I can recommend to someone.

I'm more of an average movie watcher myself. I would love to go see more movies in theaters, but movies are expensive to go and see and my family is usually more or less broke so we don't do it too often.
