Rain of burning cheese.
It happened when we tried to make a base on the moon, sent up a huge food stockpile for them and it exploded just as it got into orbit - the cheese, burning and flying at unbelievable speeds as it crashed back down to earth, destroying entire continents with only cheese alone.
The few survivors as they came out from the wrecked cheese splattered buildings found most of their food burnt by the cheese, and that bacteria had got a hold of the fallen food and covered most of it - meaning disease was now rampant on the few survivors, the bacteria which resided inside the cheese now evolved to survive heat conditions, they became more resistant and can survive in the harshest of disease.
Hence the end of the world.

Best Guess - Massive riots around the globe, governments collapsing and social order disintegrating. No need for zombies, hunger can do just the same.
Realistically, I would do the best with Slow Zombies.
Everything else is just an instant death, but since I do have some survival and shooting skill, I legitimately think I would do pretty well.
Actually, I think nerds in general would be the main survivors of the first few day/weeks of the Slow Zombie Apocalypse. Mostly because the main threat in that time, is not understanding what is going on and buying into the panic. Normal people grounded in reality would not believe it and get nom nomed. Nerd on the other hand would IMMEDIATELY know what was going on, basic tactics for defense and ALL of the nerds I know own Katanas, Broadsword or similar weapons.
Now, once the food and infrastructure was gone, most would be totally fucked, but still.

Are you out of your mind? Surviving a type 2 zombie Apocalypse is so incredibly difficult, you might as well blow your brains out before they get to you. They're basically type 1 zombies, but they can fucking RUN ENDLESSLY and are incredibly aggressive.Aerosteam 1908 said:
Either Type 1 zombies or Giant monster. Type 1 zombies contains slow zombies, which will still be a problem if they manage to grow large in numbers, but we can handle them due to them being so incredibly slow. A huge monster would just get the shit blown out of him and as long as I'm outside the blast-radius, I should be fine.
Although "After Hours" does put up some good points about the natural disaster part.
Where's the "religious apocalypse" option? I vote for that because there's nothing to worry about. But if I had to chose a plausible option? Advanced alien invasion. Maybe then there would be world peace when everyone's working together right before the planet is destroyed.
