I was thinking about films, comic, games that people would like to play in that universe?

I am a massive Naruto fan, and would like to see an MMO game setting for that. Are there any that you thought this would be great?

None of those choices would make a good MMO at all. So since there is not "other" option I'l go ahead an say Farscape. Anyone who has ever seen that show would probably agree that it could be one kick ass sci fi MMO. The universe is pretty damn big, plenty of different races, neat technology. It has all the potential for a good MMO.

I was kind of thinking that other would be what people could post. You don't think any of these would be good? not even Fallout?

how about firefly?

Especially Fallout. As much as I love the games, it would be a terrible MMO.
The whole idea of Fallout is the vast wasteland of nothing, with pockets of survivors fighting to stay alive in a terrible, desolate wasteland. You make it into an MMO and you've turned this world into a populated world with people running around all over the place, crowded cities and areas, and you completely lose the entire feel and setting that is Fallout. Even Fallout 3, which, for veterans of the series, is very different from the first two, still managed to have that feeling of vast, open, and alone.
A Fallout MMO might end up being a 'good game', but it won't be Fallout.

And the rest of those choices are terrible.
Save for, maybe, the Sopranos, but not because I like that show. But because I like the idea of a mob MMO set in the 20s or 30s. I know the Sopranos wasn't set in the 20s or 30s, but that's what I think of when I think of the mob. So that I might like. Like an MMO version of 'Gangsters'.

If you want a huge universe with lots of Races then surely Doctor Who fits that desciption. Just need to give the guy a gun lol.

I actually wondered once about a dragonball MMO (not in the near future obviously :p) - and no I don't mean the shitty power level fest dragonball Z, I mean the original, where the world was really jacked up weird and hilarious with dinosaurs all over the place (just think about it, you have ready made monsters and getting around by jumping would be hilarious, and make it so stuff like kamehameha is only for seriously high level characters... if the game even has levels, I just had the thought and thought someone should shoot it down quickly)

I think a Farscape MMO would have wonderful potential for greatness but ultimately I'd rather not see a show I love dearly turned into a crappy WoW clone... Personally I think someone needs to come up with something original because you can't really capture what made Farscape or most other universes great in an MMO.

Firefly could possibly do it but it would just be SWG with a different skin without the soul of the TV show.

The best idea I can come up with is a Mechwarrior MMO which works something like Planetside but with more customization. Mech games seem to be disappearing and I really haven't played a good one in a while but I used to really enjoy the Mechwarrior and Armored Core franchises because you get to create something which fits your play style instead of being forced into playing the way someone else thinks you should.

In MW2 (I think it was 2) you could accomplish the same missions with my brother's favorite lumbering tank or my agile laser-mobile instead of having to use a specific loadout or a specific weapon. That kind of game lends itself quite well to an MMO where you do missions to collect parts, insure your mech, PvP could be epic and so on.

Battlestar the MMO would be brilliant but would also have the bizzare problem of "If it goes over 50,000-ish subscribers, that'd be more than the total population of the fleet itself".

It'd be interesting if done right away. Different roles, from pilots to military to smugglers, etc. Investigating the ruins of different places (I won't describe where incase of Battlestar the TV series spoilers). It would, however, be easy to cock up. That said, even Age of Conan shows how easy it is to cock up an MMO.

Well, I'm not much of an MMO man, but I'm actually quite interested in the Star Wars MMO being developed by Bioware. It's obviously an idea that's been tried before, but that was no failing of it being set in the Star Wars universe. A cliched idea, I know, but I liked KotOR so why not?

I agree partly. I think that the 'mainstream' 40k universe, of Space Marines and nids and so on, would make a very bad MMO: there's just too much imbalance inherent within the races with the result that any MMO would have to focus exclusively on one faction (Guild Wars did it admittedly) or betray the fluff totally. Oh, and everyone would play Space Marines, and it would just get stupid very quickly.

What I think would work, however, is an MMO (maybe even an MMOFPS) set in the Necromundan Underhives (necromunda is a small scale skirmish game based on the gang warfare in the lower levels of an Imperial Hive city): given the differences in weapon preferences and physical strength between the different gangs a multiple 'race' system wouldn't be hard, although a rigid class system may not be workable. The action could possibly move out into the surrounding Ash Wastes with cobbled together vehicles for high end PVP possibly
