Hello peeps. Scary stuff happened last month. Little story for all of you, I'll keep it short.

About 1-2 months ago now I had my laptop stolen. At the time I was out at badminton training so I was not able to see this. They managed to force one of the windows open after climbing onto my garage roof which is just outside my window. The got in and saw my laptop. They promptly took it. The scary part is that when I had gotten home I went on my xbox and they had been playing some of my games. Weirdly, they were not touched and neither was my dad's Mac that sat oposite it worth easily over £1000, whereas my laptop was only £50-£75 at most.

Happy ending though, because it was insured I could get a new laptop which was worth exactly the same as the old one when I first got it (which was like £300) Being 4 years old my old laptop was nearly worthless so this was actually like a really cheap upgrade. Yay! I now have a super fast posting machine.

After the event I was quite paranoid and put my knife next to my bed for the "just incase" moment where they might come again. Thankfully, they never did but it got me to wonder, what weapons do you Escapists own? And what could you use in a similar situation if you were present at the time?

[sub]On a side note, there is a group about Knives on the Escapist. It's free, so come and drop in. Check out our wares.[sub] [sub]*cough* *cough*[/sub][/sub][/sub]*COUGH* [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Knives-Fan-Club][sub][sub]*cough* *cough*[/sub][/sub]

A BB gun from when I was a kid, archery equipment, Masai tribal knife, machete, African hand made spear, and more knives and multitools than I can count.
Side note: I'm a total pacifist, I've never been in a fight, and I can't even be intentionally mean to people.

Actually a lot of knives. Ranging from simple pocket knives up to a machete. I also have pretty easy access to guns, but since I don't personally own them, I left them out. Also, several hatchets and a tomahawk. I pity da fool.

A fair bit of archery equipment. Although given the assembly time, it's not so good as a weapon. The arrows would still work though!

A sword and wooden sheath, when it's in the sheath-it's a training sword and when it's out of the sheath it's a real sword...

Many knives, as I collect them. Butterflies, switchblades, concealed knives (LOTS OF FUN) throwing knives then some really old ones of the collector sort. I also have a bo staff that I train with a few times a week. But I've never gotten into a real fight with anyone, its just not my style.

I have a Savage 30.06 bolt action hunting rifle and my roommate has a 12 gauge pump action shotgun. We have a lot of neighbors, and a floor to ceiling window in the living room. The shades are not allowed to be open, and as a policy we don't let the front door stay open except for going in or coming out. I don't know my neighbors that well, so how much of a threat they happen to be is questionable. What isn't questionable is the thousands of dollars worth of stuff we have in the living room alone.

Well, i have a replica of Sode no Shirayuki (Sword from Bleach). Its not sharp, but pointy, and if need be i could always just sharpen it.

I will not sleep well tonight.

I have a couple of guns, a .270 (hunting rifle), a merlin .22 i got when i was born, and a S&W .44 Straight up Dirty Harry gun. The .44 is probably what i would scramble for if i had to defend my home. i have a speed loader with 6 rounds in it so i would probably be ready to go in time, assuming the sight of the hand cannon doesnt cause them to soil themselves and run.

I live in a low crime area of a low crime state where the average resident has more money tied up in guns than portable electronics, so breakins are rare.

I personally own a William Henry knife that I bought in Oregon when I was visiting my uncle. And my dad has this collection of firearms hidden all over the house because he thinks that either the Turks or the CIA are going to try to kill him eventually.

I have a 12ga. Remington M870 with fiber-optic sights. Thats about it for legit weapons. But screwing around with a frind in his dads metalshop (we were about 16... and not to bright still) and made a pair of knives. They are not actually sharp, but if I was to grind the edge some, It could be a useful shank if the need arose... Though I probably never will, as I never saw the need to arm myself for protection.
