Poll: What will be the game of the year?

It's waaaaay too early to call. The year isn't half-over yet and there are still a lot of unreleased games out there just waiting to fail, be great or, fill a niche. Enjoy what you have now and ask again in January.

To answer the question though...I think Saint's Row the Third will be my favorite game this year.

After watching my wife start playing Portal2 on her own (after we played split-screen multiplayer) and hearing the random "B*tch." said back to the tv, I'd love to put Portal2 in the running. I mean, it's been over a decade since she picked up a controller that didn't require motion control... and even then, we haven't touched the Wii in at least a year. (...joke wholeheartedly not intended.)

But, sight-unseen, I'll put my hat in the ring for Skyrim. Heck, I never made it through Oblivion, but I have to admit that it was purely a hardware issue, and not desire. (That 5th Anniversary Edition looks prety sweet...)

So far it's Portal 2 for me. I'm looking forward to Battlefield 3, though.

I wouldn't want to pick one until I'd gauged everything the year had to offer, but being that I've loved LA Noire more than anything else I've played in several years, I'd go that. Though if you're asking who I think will win the awards, I dunno, Portal maybe.

People are obsessed with Portal, dude. It's in the bag in my humble opinion.

This. I'm playing through L.A. Noire right now--it's great; very filmic, but not nearly as good a game as Portal 2. Which--frankly--just took it to the next level with its co-op. Skyrim, Uncharted 3, Mass Effect 3, etc. are going to have to be a lot more than just casually updated sequels to compete.

None of the above. Marvel vs Capcom 3 is my Game of the Year unless Diablo 3 comes out this year (unlikely), or MW3 by some miracle doesn't suck ass (highly unlikely).

Like it or not, they're both triple A titles with lots of fans. There's an "other" option, use it.

OT: Depends if Diablo 3 comes out this year. If it does, easy choice, if not, probably Skyrim or Battlefield 3, maybe The Old Republic, and if those three disappoint Crysis 2 was pretty awesome.

Having lots of fans does not mean that something is good. Don't make me bring up a certain Chaplinesque dictator. I don't want to have to do it... I know. Just look at Justin Beiber. *phwew* I think we could understand, if we didn't have atrocious taste, that COD and BF have as much chance of being game of the year as Madden and Dane Cook.

The Witcher 2, it's easily the best game that have been released this year and the only non-indie game I found worth getting.

I think people will choose Skyrim as the official GOTY, but personally mine's Portal 2, but I've been playing Minecraft and TF2 waaaay more than Portal 2.

If the beta is any indication of the final game, definitely Gears of War 3 will be the best game in terms of graphics, gameplay, story, and overall being fun.

But of the games that I've actually played, Portal 2 or LA Noire are the two best games that have come out this year. Skyrim and Uncharted 3 are going to be big, though.

I know it probably won't be for anyone else, but for me personally I'm hoping it will be FEAR 3. The multiplayer concepts just seem insanely fun, and the campaign is fully co-op supported.

OT: As of now Portal 2. In a few a months, Dark Souls. Perhaps a month after that Skyrim.
