I was searching through the threads and I didn't find quite what i was looking for. I kept on finding threads asking about which vehicle would be your favorite. So I created this topic about which vehivle you think would be the most effective?

Take into consideration things like: practicality, usefullness, and accessibility. Also think about how many people you may have with you or where you are located.

I personally think that a good pickup truck would be the best option to go with. You can find them around without much trouble, they are versatile and dead usefull. You can store things in the truck bed, you can drive over as many zombies as you want, and it can carry up to around 5 people with zero problems. What do you think?

Helicopter, so when the ground is no longer visible you have somewhere to go. And you dont need to be going somewhere like a plane does.

Death Star.

A serious answer?
Must I?

Well Ok, I think that Dawn Of The Dead demonstrated with some degree of certainty that a helicopter is the best bet.

Hmm. All have their good points and bad points but I agree with the pick-up truck on one condition.
That it is a Toyota Hilux. Those things are damn near indestructible.
Hang on for a bit and I'll find the proof.

EDIT: Proof is in the vids below. This is all real and no parts were replaced.

Helicopter = instant escape in an easy to mange format. However, if I must be on the ground, I'd use a mini van because then you can haul some serious stuff and maybe a passenger or two and have some weight behind you when you run over the zombie. And zombies have issues with pulling and sliding, which is required to open the two big doors.

Boat? Zombies can't swim?

Clearly then I could have a luxurious lifestyle, completely free of zombies.

If needed to, I could cultivate my own swarm of sharks to discourage any tempted brain eating humanoids.

My first choice: helicopter. Then I remembered that helicopters need fuel to stay aloft, and you may get a few hours on one tank, a boat can just float, and I don't (think) zombies can swim.

A boat would be the best.

Reasons:

1) I have never heard of swimming zombies
2) Access to islands
3) Access to food and water(water, of course, depends on which water you are on and food is fish of course)
4) If you run out of fuel, no biggie you can just paddle.
5) Gives you a nice secure place to live with no threat of being attacked ever.
6) ???
7) Profit!

As for the other vehicles, while they may be able to get you farther faster for the most part, once you run out of fuel you are stuck where you began, or dead if it is a chopper and you run out mid-flight

You both obviously haven't seen the 2004 Dawn of the Dead. And A helicopter only needs to get from building to building.

from about 3:00 on.
It's in german, but you get the idea. They just escaped and they think theyre safe.

I would say a truck would be your best option, simply because they are difficult to roll, and ride high enough to drive over rough terrain (corpses) with little difficulty. Trucks also have fairly large fuel tanks (to counter inefficiency of size).
Trucks can also take a lot of physical damage before being rendered inactive, as opposed to a helicopter, which must be in peak condition in order to fly.

They are also very easy to customize such as this.
-Attach a box cover so that people can also ride in the box without being exposed to zombies, and you can store things more easily and safely.
-Attach a small snow plow on the front so that there is virtually no risk of zombies damaging your tires, or getting hung up on a pile of bodies.

I'd use one of those fancy man powered helicopters, the ones that hold 5 people, and have some AMAZING lift.

I'd make sure that the only other people are female though, as that way it's not as bad as a smelly guy. That and the whole *cough* repopulation deal *Whistles innocently*

Zombies could float to the surface or climb up the anchor line.

I would almost say a bicycle or a snowmobile. Bicycles are silent and can be pretty fast and the best place to go (to escape the zombies at least) is somewhere cold where they will freeze so a snowmobile would be good to get around.

Only problem with bikes is that one couldn't carry much...

The zombie survivial guide. Read it. Live it. And go to it every time you wanna make a zombie thread.

A motorcycle'd be quite nice. If not, a bicycle.

In terms of sheer epicness... Why not a combine? That's give or take ten-twenty zombies before you need to clean the blades and if you're going to die in a zombie apocalypse, why not do so a la King of the Mountain atop your gore machine?

But if I was in the middle of the ocean wouldn't they die getting there? Actually I'm not sure if zombies drown or not... but I assume they do as they breathe (I think)

But you can't drive through zombies on a bicycle! You'd get pulled off!

Truck. Helicopter would be good if you had the resources to use it, but if you only have the ability to drive, a Truck will do you better..

Tank, specifically the Overlord Tank from C'n'C: Generals.
Edit: Esp if you beefed it up with the Depleted uranium shells and the nuclear engine.
