Ok, so as per the thread http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.193598-Poll-If-you-cry-youre-weak we've established that it's ok to cry AS LONG AS there's a good reason. "I broke my nail" or "the batteries ran out" are not "good reasons" according to that thread.

So, let's assume that this mysterious girl (your sister, your cousin, your best friend, your girlfriend, that shy girl at school, whoever) has a good reason, and she's crying in front of YOU.

What do you do? Instinctive response, not PC :)

If there was no one else there I'd go up and ask what's wrong. If it was a room full of people but no one moved to do anything for a while, then I'd go and ask her what's wrong (to clarify, I'd wait to see if anyone came, then I'd go talk to her.)

It's all dependent on her looks there, though. It may sound shallow, but hey, I like my women pretty...

Try and help them deal with whatever issue is plaguing them.

I'd be awkward in honesty. I normally think i'll just someone make the situation worse, or just get verbal/physical abuse by asking whats wrong. In any case I do end up asking whats wrong, but if unless it's someone who I really know I'll leave when they do the all to common "oh it's nothing (give me attention damnit)". If it's someone I know, i'm much more capable.

I'm an empathic person. I usually want to make people feel better. So if they have no one else comforting them, I usually head over and try to cheer them up.

Maddox suggest that the way to solve a 'crying girl' problem is to wipe out your dick.

...

Obviously, I'd try to comfort her if I knew her well enough. If not, let it be. Crying women don't open up to strangers, making the entire process pointless and infuriating.

(Though why did you post "see a girl crying"? That's an interesting discussion in and of itself: seeing a boy cry vs a girl.)

Because you give boys booze/boobs when he's crying.

Easy answer. Would make for a short thread.

Depends on what is happening in the surrounding, my time line, and the radiant personality of the girl (which I'm quite good at keying into in passing). If it's break-up crying, I don't dare interfere. If it's quiet crying, then I have once before, and I cheered her up into friendly form. The other time I've sat down and asked if anything was wrong, I was told to fuck off, and she got up and walked off.

Lol, but a disparaging answer. (Not trying to derail the thread here, but I just want to say this)

This falls into the current social norms that men shouldn't show emotion, and are incapable of feeling any true emotion and are emotionally shallow.

Because generally most guys don't cry in public unless they're in physical pain, in which case the response is obvious?

Also, woo first post

I see no problem with a society that suggest that males should be hardened both physically and mentally. Hell, I wish the same applied to women.

No one ever said men don't feel emotions, not even society. They just say we should be tough enough to ignore it and move on.

And men can be quite shallow, so I contend that the tits/vodka strategy will work.

Ask her what's wrong, see if I could help.

Wouden't that only cause more crying?

For the sake of our sex life, Female happiness is a major priority for males. As long as she has a valid reason for her tears (and a vagina) any man should do whatever he can to help her out and solve the issue.

If I knew her, or she looked like she needed help, I'd ask what was wrong.
Otherwise, I'd respect her privacy. It's not the most fun thing to cry in public, even before people start bugging you about it.
