We all complain about the games that come out, but what would you do if it was your decision?

WW2 has been so over used it's beginning to resemble WoW, but like WoW I think it could still be good. We just need to abandon the USA's only moment of glory (Normandy) and focus on the other battles of WW2. Italy was one of the hardest battles of the war, ad that would be realy good, or the fighting in the streets in Stalingrad, possibly with and open world around the city. Maybe even a game where you could play as the Germans!

These are just my crappy thoughts, but yours have to be better so lets hear them!

I suppose I am expected to gasp in horror at the prospect, but right now I willing to try anything that will spice up the WW2 genre's rotting corpse.

i'm not sure but that's just about the taboo on the holocaust but it's in the past, i think mostly the elder people would have objection. anyway it would be a good idea to see these battle from another side you can still succesfully complete a mission and loose the battle.
and with this new concept new battles so you can learn a bit more about the war (i don't mean the nazi evil activities with the deathcamps) because for me it's not that intresting anymore to play WW2 games because it's always Cean, El Alamein and Stalingrad i would like to see Arnhem on the german side or the siege of Leningrad.

I would like to see a multiplayer game with any hint of an RPG element to get some variety in my deathmatches.

As long as it had a real human element to it brought on in CoD4 or other such shooters, yes.

Honestly I think all the WW2 games have desensitized us to the death of other people who today we would have no issue with. If we cannot feel the same, then we are just hypocrites.

Well during the war, the Nazi's had several victories that are never told. I know they were the 'baddies' but enough time has passed to see both sides of the war. But don't let the Americans design and create the game, coz it'll be a tad bias.

I think playing as the Nazi's AND The Russians in Stalingrad on the Eastern Front would be interesting, since then you could play with some really good moral greys there.

You know what I'd like to see in a new game.
AN ORIGINAL IDEA.

Apparently those are a mystery to modern developers.
WW2 is entirely overused, and no matter how it's done.. It will never be "re-invented".
It's done, washed up.. And needs to retire.

I guess it's too much to ask for designers to use their heads and come up with something fresh instead of the same re-hashed garbage every year.

I doubt it'd be allowed, slightly too soon for the weaker countries that couldnt fight and got invaded, and definately too soon for the Germans lol.

I'd personally like to see games made about the smaller wars like Vietnam or, as a Brit, the Conflict in Northen Ireland. Taking control of an SAS soldier was great in cod4 and should be done again.

I'd love to, the whole thing with American is getting a little repetitive... The company who made it would probably be sued anyways...

Actually, I really like this idea, despite voting for "I wouldn't buy a WW2 game". It would be a chance to put a completely new perspective on things. The main character could be one of the last surviving soldiers defending the path to Berlin. He could be a some what gullible person, who is unaware of what happend in the Holocaust, and actually believes that the Nazi party only wanted the best for their country. When he starts to realise what monstrosities his people have done, it would create a conflict in his interests, as he is unsure of what it all means. He really can't come to terms with what has happend.

It would be pretty interesting, especially as it creates a story which shows how not all the Germans were transformed into marching killer-death villains by the introduction of the Nazi regime. A real 'human element' as TheKbob puts it would put a whole new perspective on it. While it could create some controversy at first, I just see it as another opportunity to humiliate the uninformed self-righteous twits when we point out that you don't shoot any Jews.

What would I like to see in a video game?

Gameplay, and storyline, both balanced in their goodness, without ditching one for the other (Pretty much all of Devil May Cry, Prince of Persia 2, Assassin's Creed, and all of the Halo series, except the first, which I adored for having a stellar 'lone-wolf' storyline without making the hero seem overly macho. Then again, the hero never really talked a lot.)

P.S. If you turn off the minimap display and helpful nuggets they put in their to dumb down the game, it actually becomes VERY fun, because then you actually have to find people, get information, find your target, and kill him. Oh, who am I kidding, Assassin's Creed is already fun to me, but that's because I'm not a gameplay whore who needs button mashing in every game.

though a bit distasteful at the beginning, it wouldn't be too much to have a game where you start as a Nazi in the beginning only to turn on Hitler by the end. hell, you could just rip off the plot-line from The Force Unleashed.

Not a chance in hell I'd play a game where you played as the nazi's. What would you do, blizt in poland france and russia and then the game ends, would you get to play as one of hilters assassins and bump off politcal rivals in the name of hitler. Even better, why dont you go to little gold stars on your mini map where you can round up jews and homosexuals, and maybe if you do it fast enough you can earn a mini game where you murder innocents in a concentration camp. Its sickening to think people would even consider playing this game.
The idea posted by breedbate is okay, but really even if my character didnt know what was going on and just thought he was protecting the homeland, I would know what had happend and what I was doing. I don't think I'd get thru the 1st level if their was a consequence for killing your nazi brothern, and quite frankly, I not going to live in America and love my country and then play a game where I pretend to shoot and kill American soliders.

what would I like to see in a game? thank you for letting me publicly answer my favorite question!

I would like to see, fun. Yes you read it right, fun. Games arent fun anymore there always exiting or scary or realistic (just think of it this way "how fun is a real war?") or there great entertainment which isent fun but it keeps you going. I want to see a game that you can play without being a butcher or an inosant child and that is fun, I know I'll never get that EVER so I have to make do.

If you want to experiance fun just play any of the 1st 3 games of the Jak and Daxter series or the early sonic games, now they were FUN.

And then there are others who would think it sickening that you play any historical videogame based around warfare. There is no definitive line here and not everyone is American, passing judgement on a person's character because they are more capable of dissasociating morality from a videogame is a bit much.

One countries disgust is another's pass time.
