I'm 16 and currently looking for the next anime to blow the socks off of me like Akira. I also recently got into anime, so convert me, all of you! (By recent I mean about a year or so. I don't watch that much anime.)
I'm in my early 30s, and I've been an anime fan since before most people knew what anime was (ie, since the early 90s).Julius Terrell said:I decided to make this thread because I'm curious. It seems that most of the sites I go on most of the people are either high schoolers or in their early 20s. Me being in my mid 30s, it's so hard to meet people in my age range that are anime fans. I mean I've been watching anime well before it became well known. So most people I talk to have very little knowledge on the medium. Please share you're thoughts. Thanks!
That's what happens when you give what was previously a "select your name" character an actual name but that's why I watched the subs. All of the voice cast from Yui Horie to Showtaro Morikubo to Romi Park all provided the voices in the subs and it was spectacular to seeneonsword13-ops said:Saw it during its orginal airing. Bad news is that it doesn't have anything from Golden in it but It's still awesome with all the key scenes preserved and the funny moments everyone remembers are also in it (King's Game anyone?)neonsword13-ops said:17.
My gateway drug was Naruto on TOONAMI back in '05. Naruto is still one of my favorites, but I've since moved on to better things, like Gurren Lagann, FLCL, Durarara!!, Baccano!, Steins;Gate, Bebop, and many others.
And my favorite game (Persona 4) is presented like an anime.
I don't like the dub, though. It feels weird when the characters don't use the honorifics like they do in the game.
The film was 88 so if you remember it clearly then you can be late 20s to late 30s (depending on if you were born in the early-mid 80s or sometime in the 70s).4RM3D said:Thank you for reminding me how old I am.
*sigh*
Now, let's drop the poll with the ages and get creative:
How old are you?
Astro Boy era
Space Battleship Yamato era
Akira era
Ghost in the Shell era
I would be from the Akira era. I'll let you speculate about my age.
Exactly me, too. I didn't mention things like Thundercats and Astro Boy and the regular staples of the 80's, because I had no idea anime even existed then. I thought all of the things I watched were Canadian/American until the internet happened and people started learning these things, which was about the Sailor Moon/Dragon Ball time.Bara_no_Hime said:I'm in my early 30s, and I've been an anime fan since before most people knew what anime was (ie, since the early 90s).Julius Terrell said:I decided to make this thread because I'm curious. Actually, if you count the early 80s French/Anime hybrids, then I've been an anime fan longer - I just didn't know what I was watching was anime.
So... yeah. Hi. ^^
Dude, forget everything the game did better than the anime (ie everything), the Kings Game was fucking gold in the animated version. Actually, I love what they did with the brotagonist in general. He was cool, hilarious, a bit of an oddball but still ambigious enough to be the 'self-insert' that he was in the game.
