I went for Small Arms/Rifles so I have to say Yao Guai are more deadly than Deathclaws for me.
I can generally get a Deathclaw out of it before he gets to me, especially if I'm using my CAR. I find Yao Guai a bigger pain in the @rse simply because I've had more close calls with them. Not come across an Albino Radscorpion yet, and the others are jokes.
Glowing Ones are just like Giant Radscorpions; Not hard to kill but a bit annoying.
Deathclaws aren't too difficult, well not at high levels anyway. I usually hammer it with some kind of rifle and when it gets close, I switch to a shotgun and turn on VATS to blow it's skull to bits. Shame there isn't a superior version of Deathclaw though. That would be very exciting.
Reavers are probably my most dreaded. I was up against loads of them in a subway once and had to fill up my health every 3 seconds with stimpacks. I really should have been wearing armour but whenever I play a game with lots of different outfits, its Style > Common sense. I like the mercenary outfits.
I've only seen a few Super Mutant Overlords but I've never had much of a problem with them. Probably because it was being attacked by a bunch of Brotherhood of Steel guys or was miles away and was rubbish at aiming.
Like the Overlords, I don't see many Abino Radscorpions. But i've had enough experience to say they are really really tough. I find a similar strategy works when dealing with other Radscorpions when I was a lower level. Which was to simply jump on a high rock or something out of reach and fire away. However sometimes they would find a way up and so I would have to jump to someplace else or run backwards and shoot constantly.
I remember Yao Guai to be quite tough but I like the animal friend perk so I can just walk past them.
Mirelurks are really frightening at lower levels. I remember being lv 3 and was up against 3 of them with only a pistol and hunting rifle with little ammo...
forgive my n00b-ness cause Im only about halfway through the game. But are drifters a common enemy? I was taking a stroll around the north west part of the world and came across a church with a guy called "Drifter" holed up in the bell tower. He had impenetrable cover and a Reservist's rifle which he was very VERY good with. And I happened to not have a rocket launcher on me, and he was too well dug in for me to get a grenade through the window. I dont know if he was inherently tough or if I just ran into him in the least desirable circumstance....
What's with you guys? I can kill Deathclaws easily. It's all about going into VATS and using the Dart Gun, and your custom Plasma Rifle that you got from that Android. It can be done in seconds. But the Reaver... They're almost impossible. Their health bar is so high, and they can throw projectiles at you. They're the deadly ones.
Yao Guai-There really isn't a special way too kill these, they are evil but if you cripple their head they get stunned for about 1 second. Just Run backwards and shoot them is my suggestion.
The Yao Guai have a very low perception, and it doesn't seem like you all are realizing that. It is incredibly easy to sneak up on one, and if you do, one plasma rifle bullet can take it out.

He night be the only one. He does hold that valuable reservist rifle though.
Get into the church and stand a little behind and below him. try to angle your grenade toss (a few Grenades helps) until one lands on the platform with him. This should send him off of his perch. (Save first?)
Of course, if you have the Perk "Bloody Mess" (which I don't), you could always just collect the weapon from one of his many scattered parts.
(your answer raises another question. I never got the bloody mess perk and yet I can still pick up a rifle simply by finding some poor yahoos arm. Weird stuff)
Yea I ran into the church, got under him and threw the grenades. I guess I didnt really spend enough time with grenades in that game cause my arm is crap, and I could get one to stay up there. Meanwhile I think he managed to score three or four head shots on me....
Actually I think the biggest pain for me was when I first emerged from a subway tunnel into the mall. I came up at the one right between the trenches filled with mutant brutes and masters and that little area of debris between the trenches and the capitol building that the talon company apparently decided to have an all company Ice cream social in, but decided to bring all their guns to just in case I, of all people showed up......
died three times..... cussed many more....
and that Reservists rifle is amazing if you have a decent small guns skill level and can keep it in good condition. but the clip size sucks...

Might actually try vault 87 on very hard on a new playthrough. Thanks.
Oh yeah there was one creature that I forgot. In the Operation Anchorage expansion you have to defeat the Chinese leader with the shock sword at the end (Or convince him to surrender). From what I remember, he was practically invincible. Plus having his soldiers constantly shoot at you wasn't very nice...
