My Little Pony? The Show from the 80's? They made a new one huh? I wasn't aware that it had returned to cult status. All the girlies wanted these when I was a wee lad. Guess things haven't changed that much after all.
My Y chromosome says hi.

If you were trying to be insulting by insinuating that all men who like MLP are girly. I can't exactly speak for everypony, but I say machismo is for suckers.
I believe it is necessary to accentuate this point with a story.

I have a good friend who is three years older than me, I met him shortly before he began his third tour in Iraq. His tour was cut short when he was honorably removed from active duty after an I.E.D. took out a good portion of his leg. He has 6 confirmed kills and now currently works stateside as a personal bodyguard to a local bigshot. And Fluttershy is his favorite My Little Pony.

I am deeply confused. I wasn't even aware that the show had made a come back. The original iteration was, like most cartoons of the 80's, little more than extended commercial for an extensive line of toys and the modern version seems to be very much the same. I cannot, for the life of me, see what value is present in the show that makes it suddenly so beloved.

Personally? If the toy doesn't come armed to the teeth out of the box, I'm not interested in it or its associated cartoon.

Fluttershy, huh? Agreed. And "Cool story, bronie.", I might add without sarcasm.

I was a bit late on the scene... but don't know how I survived before.

To the people who remember the old MLP franchise and don't understand the new fandom as I didn't, the new one is made by the same people that did the POWERPUFF GIRLS! Always loved the powerpuff girls!
Also the art and animation are kinda like panty and stocking...except good.

And screw rainbow dash! Fluttershy FTW!

I'm really glad you put that qualifier in there, otherwise I would have assumed you disregarded my story. Maybe people should start doing what you do more often.
And you know what the fun thing is? I'm actually still in contact with him because Fluttershy's my favorite too.

= the two I have greater appreciation for. Fluttershy just edging out the former.

"Rainbow Dyke".. Amusing. :p

Because it's oddly awesome and amazing. I'm a newcomer to it but it is so fun. I can't explain it... you just have to watch it.

Really, if you would take the time and watch one episode on YouTube, you would understand.
Most of the episodes are available in 1080p, and if you have even a weak childish side to enjoy
cartoons you will instantly become a Brony. Its by the same designer(Lauren Faust)as Fosters Home.
OR if you are so insecure about your sexuality that you must vomit in the sight of anything pink:
thats your loss.

Ponies are trolls. That is their only intention. The people who actually watch the show were probably just stupid enough follow anything that is "popular."
On the contrary...

I would merely confess to an appreciation of cute things, in addition to a multitude of other interests. Ever have a puppy or a kitten? /:

Obviously I couldn't speak for everyone of course...that's just me.

I don't know anything about it but I think its funny that I've randomly been seeing a lot of threads on it since a friend of mine just told me how her friend does some singing for it. Kazumi Evans. She seems good, like she should be singing in some Disney movie.

At the risk of perpetuating the image of broniehood as a cult, judging by your reaction it's probably already too late.

Just IMDb'd it. She's Rarity's singing voice. Gotta admit I'm a fan.

Observe your reaction to my post, then inspect your feelings of inadequacy and figure them out buddy. I wasn't trying to be insulting. Wasn't making a general statement about anyone either. To each their own. All the girlies DID want these when I was a wee lad. I guess my attempt at gentle humor was a failure as well. But hey, at least you got to puff your chest out and defend your cause that wasn't being attacked, huh? Good for you, Mr. Machismo is for Suckers.

Enjoying the show is fine, but when grown men start obsessing over it, that's when it becomes weird and creepy.

People watch it because they enjoy it.
Honestly, I am slowly being drawn into MLP by all the hilarious vids I've seen over the last week, from just little snippets of episodes.

A better question would be "Why do people watch reality shows/Jersey Shore/Saw"

At least watching MLP never hurt anyone's intelligence.
