Seriously, I promise you all that if I see one more zombie thread, I may explode - leaving brain matter all over the beautiful whitewashed walls of the Escapist.

What is so great about zombies? Why does everyone seem to love them?

As far as I'm concerned, they're the most useless enemy in both games and movies, far surpassed by all other types of undead/evil/mutated/mythical creatures.

Please, somebody explain this to me before I lose (what's left of) my sanity.

Here's a few reasons I'd love the zombie apocalypse:
1- Humanity dies.
2- I would get to bash in people's faces.
3- Impending doom is always nice to think about.
4- Fear of zombies spawns good movies and video games.

I'm inclined to agree with you.

There are too many great vampire movies for Mr. Shovelface to ruin the genre in one appearance.

Because the idea of you being smarter stronger and faster and being much more heavily armed than a whole bunch of stupid slow and weak things make us feel like Rambo and gives us adrenaline and a few good scares of the "Holy shit this will be my last breath" varity....

And I think as humans we enjoy the freedom knowing that you won't be blamed for genocide if its zombies...

But there's the problem: Zombies aren't scary. At all.

I laughed through Diary of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead and every other zombie movie I've ever seen.

Exactly.Sure Twilight sucks and all.But there are just so many great vampire movies to counter measure it.

I've commented several times on the zombie obsession. I don't know where it came from and I don't know why, but I wish it'd go away. Surely we, as a community, can find something better to talk about than zombies and religion vs atheism?

I do, but i'm not like ''OMG! Zombies! Me be love zombie! LOLOLOLOLO!'' I like them as much as RPG's, horror movies and horror games, that is - i check reviews of movies/games about zombies to if it's worth looking.
I'm not obsessed, but i would like to see zombie MMO and more movies like Zombieland.

Zombies are awesome!!! i think the reason i love them is the way they kill people. they don't need any guns or swords just the bear hands and teeth. another reason is how humanity dies and everyone has to work together
