Would you look at that, over the last two years the average age has gone from 16 to 17.

20, turning 21 in December. I almost never look my age because I tend to put off shaving which makes me look slightly older (and more homeless) and I also rarely get haircuts which tend to make me look way younger when I don't have a beard going.

My first gaming experience is probably Sega Genesis though I have better memories playing N64 and Half life (they were right after for me).

30, just barely, glad I'm not the only one. Though I have suspect I'm one of the few over that age that doesn't work on the site.
I've been gaming since 1985ish. When my older brothers pooled their money together to buy a NES so we could play super mario bros. Though taking turns with 6 other brothers was not easy. I discovered, while playing the first space quest and monkey island that I did not have to share the PC as much as I did the console. Thus my preferance for PC gaming began (though I've gone back and forth over the years)

32, with the maturity of a 12 year old. Which is why most people think I'm mid-twenties.

I'm 20, 21 in October. I'm guessing I'm somewhat near the median age of the Escapist.

Slightly on topic, I've noticed a lot of younger users here, and I think that's fantastic. The Escapist is one of the most user-friendly communities I frequent: it's a great place for a novice internet user to get their forum thrills.

Sixteen, m'boy.
That said, I have always tried to present concise arguments, logical sentence structure and correct spelling. I tend to swap between American and English spelling, but that's just because you guys are so awesome.
Anyway, first game? That would have been on the SNES- Super Mario World, I think it was called. Probably logged more hours on that then on anything else.

I'm 21, turning 22 in June. Most people don't believe I'm that old when I tell them, although I don't get carded most of the time at bars or casinos or anywhere else (not that I even go out that often anyway.)

Although, when I'm at work, most of my customers think I'm older. They seem to think that because I hold a management position and I'm actually responsible that there's no possible way I could be younger than 25. Right before my 21st birthday last year, one of my regular customers swore to me she thought I was probably closer to 27 and just had a "baby face".

My dad introduced me to video games before I was even old enough to really play. He used to sit and play Nintendo and I would sit with the second controller and mash buttons. But I had mastered the mario games by the time I was six. We used to play Hockey a lot on the Sega Genesis too. I'd always be losing so he'd take out his goalie for the last couple minutes and let me win.

By the time we got a Playstation I could pretty much beat him in everything, though.

OT: My age is of nobody's concern. Although it doesn't concern me if they are concerned.

Nineteen. I look younger though, unless I grow a beard. Then I look older.
It's the opposite for me (except the beard part of course). I've been told I look a lot older then I am. Some people mistake me for a twenty year old (I'm 18 so I guess it wouldn't really make a difference that much)..
Did it occur to you that you refused to state your age in one post then did so in another?
Did it occur to you that I know that? And further more, do not care? :p
