Master. This is harsh. Harsher than hell.
I can feel it. I can really feel it! This is the end!
You need to pick your favorite Suda 51 game.
We're in a tight spot! Tight and outta sight!
In the name of Harman...

Theatrics aside, my favorite game really is Killer7. It was my first and I haven't played a whole lot of other Suda 51 games since (Samurai Champloo and No More Heroes notwithstanding), but it remains the freakiest, trippiest and most engaging. Good luck decyphering the plot but I just love getting lost in it. And for such a self-indulgent, tongue-in-cheek game it manages to pull quite a few powerful and/or moving scenes with characters I genuinely cared for, for a change.

For the poll list I've tried to focus exclusively on the games Suda has personally directed. There're quite a few, hence the "Other" option.

I've only played Killer7.

To be honest nothing else really compares from what I understand of the others, that's really his statement.

I'd love to see the gameplay retooled in some kind of enhanced rerelease, though. Because in many ways it's bloody awful. But the game is still endearing.

I like Suda 51 and his style but godamn I hate his games.

And I like how the games have layers to them but each layer is just so shallow.

I'd actually like to see him work in another medium; honestly, I would love to see an anime or a movie made by him.

Lollipop Chainsaw is the only game of his I've played, so I guess it is my favorite by default.

It is, Suda does offer one-of-a-kind experiences. And he tends to reflect on the medium itself a lot. Not terribly deeply but you'd think he'd be more popular among gamers. He feels more in touch (and in love) with gaming culture than a lot of other self-made gaming personalities.

I've tried a few of his games and out of Shadows of the Damned, Lollipop Chainsaw, Killer 7 and, No More Heroes, that last one was my favorite. There are a number of games that I would rather play than those above but I wouldn't call any of them bad. I just don't care too much for them in general.

While I really like Killer 7 and No More Heroes and even Killer is Dead, I had to go with Lolipop Chainsaw. It's the one I go back to play the most often and still watch all the story parts.

No More Heroes, same as my favorite game of all time.
I could go on about NMH for literally hours (and have in the past) but suffice it to say it is currently the only game I've ever played that I would not change in any way if given the chance... save for wiping it's sequel out of existence.

Despite only playing Lollipop Chansaw (even though I own a copy of Killer7 and still have yet to play it), I have no choice but to choose Lollipop Chainsaw... Besides, I only have one [major] nitpick on that game in general and it's so trivial, it's actually a trochievement for the game itself...

Other than that, I REALLY want to play No More Heroes[footnote]...on the Wii... that I don't technically own... (I'll just get a Wii U instead... It's going to have Bayonetta on it and I like that game...)[/footnote]!

You know they ported it as No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise on the PS3 right? Most of the motion detection translates to spinning and cranking the analog sticks, though you still have to shake the controller up and down to charge the beam katana.

Yeah, I know... But, I rather shake a Wii-mote than my PS3 controller, anyway... Then again, given some of the key differences between both versions, I might have to rethink on which version I want to buy after all...

I thought Lollipop Chainsaw was pretty awesome. It was clunky and boring at first, but it got so much better once you get more combos and understand the mechanic.

Shadow of the damned was dang fun, a bit scary for me though. I'm playing No more heroes 2 at the moment, so I have yet to form an opinion on it. Killer is dead is still stacked neatly on the shelf, unopened.

Well the PS3 version throws in 5 optional bosses taken from the sequel. I think that's the one major difference. There're additional assassination gigs and part-time jobs, none of which I would miss terribly. They're all more or less the same anyway. Most of the differences are entirely based on comfort: you can replay boss fights, stock Dark Side mode rather than use it instantly, retry failed missions, warp to jobs and/or gigs you've already completed, there's even a "Very Sweet" difficulty mode... stuff that tailors the game with extra comfort, but at the same time doesn't really change the content, you know? It's not like you're missing out by going with the Wii version.

Wha? No love for No More Heroes 2?
NMH2 is one of my favourite games of all time, I love absolutely everything about it. The gameplay is fun as hell, the game is hilarious, the bosses are insanely awesome, and everything else is fantastic. And it got rid of the open world stuff from the first game. I know some people liked the open city stuff, but personally I really didn't think it fit, and that and originally having to farm jobs for money to progress just padded the game out way too much.
Dual beam katanas, guys. DUAL BEAM KATANAS.
Mmm-mm. NMH2.
No More Heroes 3 HAS to be a thing. PLEEEASE, Suda. PLLLEEEEAAAAASSSEE.

Stop whatever you're doing and go play it. Now.

Seriously, Killer7 is one of the most amazing games I've ever played. I don't think words can properly convey how much I adore that game. Easily on my top-5 games of all time list.

I don't always regret not getting a Wii...

... but when I do it's because I can't play No More Heroes 2 anywhere else.

I really loved Shadows of the Damned, so it's probably my pick. The world, the jokes, Steve Blum...

I guess I'd go with Killer7, even though calling it a 'game' is being rather kind to it.
The actual GAME PLAY was rather horrid, but the story is something everyone should at least watch on youtube.

Personally?

I REALLY enjoyed Fatal Frame 4, which he had a heavy hand in, because it was actually FUN to play.
Plus, I nearly wet myself more than once.
Something that hasn't happened in a LONG time.

I also really enjoyed Sine Mora, which is just a fun title.

Suda should do more horror games. Even his more comedic games have enough violence and enough absurdity to qualify as horror. I know I was scared at times playing Killer7.

I've only ever played Killer7 and Lollipop Chainsaw, and I only played maybe 15 minutes of Killer7 before deciding I hated it and never playing it again. I still have it in a box somewhere, I should give it another go.
Lollipop Chainsaw, on the other hand, I loved. The minigames can go fuck themselves, but the core gameplay is so much fun.

I'll get both No More Heroes games and Shadows of the Damned eventually, they sound really sweet as well. But apparently Killed is Dead is abominable.
