Fallout 3; hands down. I would say New Vegas but it doesn't appeal to me for somereason. I know it to be fact because of the simple reason there is a new DLC out for it and I'm thinking not to get it (I usually Rush to get these things)
Old World Blues is actually much closer to Fallout 3 than anything else in New Vegas. I was really happy with the amount of secret places to explore - not to mention it's laugh out loud hilarious with by far the best loot and story in a Fallout DLC.
Really you say? Well I haft to believe you; I read your Thread about it so you'd know; but it did sound... Well "Old School" Sorta speak.

Thank you I'm going to download it tonight and give it a try.

*from the sound of being brutally attacked by fallout fans* I'm kidding! I'm sorry for mentioning the Unmentionable game!

I haven't played any other game other than FO3 and NV, because I don't like TBC, so I'm going to say FO3, but not vote as to not scew the results.
We now have you on the watchlist. Everyone gets to mention that game once in their lives. We're watching you buddy; don't do it again.

Third one. Decent story, rewarding exploration, wide variety of weapons and armour, distinctive factions, VATS, likeable followers.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas are the only ones I've ever played.
And of those two, I'd say I like Fallout 3. If nothing else, better music.

Vegas, without a doubt. Played all the other games but Vegas was the only game that Really sucked me in. No homo.

My only problem with 2 is how the game starts nagging you if you're not doing the main quest fast enough. I mean, I get why, I just wish it would shut up and let me explore.
At least it doesn't give you a game over if you're too slow. Fallout 1 did that. It didn't bother me that much, but I can see it being a problem for some.
I did think that was a very weird thing to do in an open-world game. However, as long as you were making money you pay the water merchants to deliver water to your vault and increase the time limit by 100 in-game days. I never got to that point though... finished that quest with 80 days to go or so. I was hurrying a bit though. After that first quest, the time limit goes away though and you can do things at your own pace.

Probably Fallout 1... I know it makes me sound nastalgic or like a hipster but I need to say

I LOVED FALLOUT 3
...but
I had Fallout 1 waaaaaaay back when, and when fallout 3 was announced and all my friends had no clue why it was "Fallout 3" when it was "the first one" I got to tell them everything about it!

now, I haven't played New Vegas, ad I don't see that Xbox/PS2 "Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel" as a "Fallout" game

but I'd say 3 and 1 are too different to hold in the same hands, I love them both in different ways

As for fallout 2, I just started replaying it about a week ago because I never beat it haha, so maybe my opinion will change with a game that has 16 followers and a car :p
(so far I have Lenny and Dogmeat.)

I'd say Fallout 3 is pretty good, but kinda lost the charm that the first ones had

like, it got too serious compared to those

it's still one of my favorite games, but Fallout 1 is my favorite

I bought the first three, but I couldn't get into them, so I'm going for New Vegas.
It's so much fun and I love it and the things in it.

...I don't have tactics but I don't know much about it other than it's more RTS-style. Is it worth getting? What would you compare its gameplay to?...
it's JUST like fallout 1 and 2
but you can set your characters to crouch or prone
you control MULTIPLE characters instead of just you
it's less "RPG" then it is "tactics" (go figure)

I'd only suggest it if you feel fallout 1+2 had amazing combat, cause that's really all you get out of tactics, well that and having a classic fallout game with far better graphics

also you forgot to put "Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel" on the list, but no one cares about that one anyways. All I remember from the demo was that it was pretty much a twin-stick shooter

so to save time and money on that one, get "Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team" demo and pretend the librarian is a ghoul.

EDIT: PS! Best Quote I've found in Fallout 2 so far (yes this is a screenshot I took)

Originally that wasn't the case I believe. There would be a time limit where, if you weren't fast enough, the Super Mutants would wipe out the Vault. If you got a water caravan for the Vault, they would get there faster and you would have less time. Still, it you want the best endings, you still have a time limit.

I haven't played the first two as extensively as Fallout 3 and New Vegas and I haven't played Tactics at all.

So I'll have to go with New Vegas. It may not be too polished, but it is still a fun game with a lot to do and great areas to explore.

You won't be disappointed - it's slow to start with too much exposition but once you get out in the open is wonderful :)

I just finished playing through the original Fallout for the first time and I must say I was very impressed. The fact that a game this good was made in 1997 is pretty amazing. There's a lot of reward for exploration which I always like to see, and the weapons were extremely satisfying to use. It was one of those games where I felt it was getting better all the time, right up until the end (a steady stream of more powerful weapons obviously helps here) and I've had a hard time doing anything else the last few days.
Why so surprised that a game from '97 was good? 1995-2002 was the best era of PC gaming ;-)

Im going with FO2 for the poll. All games in the series are good, but FO2 just a cut above the rest. And it was the first one I played.

I'd have to say New Vegas. Especially now that there's a mod that combines New Vegas and Fallout 3 into one huge world (or rather, two huge worlds that you can travel between)
I'm going to have to try that one out once I get the NV goty for the pc. The mojave could've used some Nuka Grenades: not that I ever saw more than 3 enemies at once but they would've been handy in that unmarked Deathclaw zoo.

I loved the originals but I would have to say 3 was my favorite. The story wasn't that great and it didn't have that humor but I just had so much fun exploring that world. New Vegas had a better story and turned some of the better F3 mods into standard features, but the world felt a little cluttered and contrived. Also, I've never played a more broken game on the console... or even the pc for that matter.
