New Vegas I'm not too in to turn based combat and it has something to do with the Fallout story

Well, it depends. Without mods, New Vegas beats 3, but with mods, they are equal. I still vote for New Vegas, because even if 1, 2 and Tactics are great games, I think that the new 3D Fallouts are better.

Right away, thank God this guy is right. The Vault and Wikipedia talk about some strange game that is for the PS2, and it´s a meathead shooter with no connection to the series whatsoever, but that "thing" never existed. The Vault needs to do some clean-up.

FO2 is the best one. Story-wise, freedom-wise, content-wise, etc.
You could become a porn-star and have a career as a boxer. That was awesome! Even when it looked the way it did, my imagination filled in the gaps. And the soundtrack was somehow beautiful and very atmospheric.

One of my all time favorites!

In all seriousness, new vegas is probably my favorite. I enjoyed the first two but could never really get into the combat and fallout 3 took itself far too seriously for a fallout game.

Ugh. How disappointing.

I mean you, not the whole "Fallout 3 is winning" thing.

You on the other hand, ugh.

My favorite is Fallout 3 with New Vegas coming in a close second.

Behind them in third place is Fallout 2 which was a great game that would piss me off every now and then because in many cases combat is unavoidable.

Fourth place goes to the original Fallout which was thankfully easier than Fallout 2, but gave you a stupid time limit to beat the game. Yeah it gave you plenty of time, but if you're like me and like to explore everything, having a time limit feels like the game is trying to keep us on a leash which is kind of backwards for a RPG.

Finally fifth place goes to the pretty good Fallout Tactics. You have to save pretty frequently and be ready for anything in this game that stresses strategy more than any other game in the series. I like the story and the levels were massive and usually gave you many options on how to go about them. Unfortunately the characters are all pretty much throwaway characters, missions can take several hours each to finish, and at times it feels like the game is pretty unbalanced. Still, overall I enjoyed Tactics and I recommend it to anyone who likes the original Fallouts and doesn't mind a challenge.

Fallout Brotherhood of Steel is the only game in the series I haven't played/beaten and from what I've been told, I shouldn't even bother with it.

I'd be of the opinion that ridiculous, ignorant posts like yours are the real problem with this community.

Fallout 3 is still champion. Obsidion proved they can not program a relatively bug free game worth a damn, and even so tried to make New Vegas way to much like Fallout 2 in terms of different ammunition and Barrier Armor Ratings ETC.

3 was streamlined to the point of accessability, making it a much superior game in my mind.

I've played Fallout 1 and 2 and the content to be found in 2 is nothing short of STAGGERING! Seriously it's easily bigger than any other Fallout game even 3 and New Vegas. However my vote goes to 3 because I like being able to kill monsters I shouldn't be able to like Super Mutants at level 1. Try talking back to anything more dangerous than a rat in the original Fallouts and watch that Ghoul/Super Mutant/Deathclaw/Mercenary/Slightly Bigger Rat rip you to shreds without breaking a sweat.

Noooooo! Don't touch the tactics! It'll all be going good to start but then you'll realise, it's all a load of bollocks!

I just finished playing through the original Fallout for the first time and I must say I was very impressed. The fact that a game this good was made in 1997 is pretty amazing. There's a lot of reward for exploration which I always like to see, and the weapons were extremely satisfying to use. It was one of those games where I felt it was getting better all the time, right up until the end (a steady stream of more powerful weapons obviously helps here) and I've had a hard time doing anything else the last few days.
Why so surprised that a game from '97 was good? 1995-2002 was the best era of PC gaming ;-)
You're not wrong there. The first 5 or so of my favorite games come from '97-2003. But Fallout is the oldest game I've played for the first time recently and loved.

Fallout 3. And you know what? I don't care what people say about it. In my mind, it's the best game in the series. As a wise meme once said:

This. Granted, I never played any of the Fallout games until after I played 3, so I was all "What's this top-down shit?" when I first tried 2. New Vegas was kinda cool, but I prefer 3. Especially on PC. Especially when you have the G.E.C.K. Especially when you have a knife that fires fifty rails in a single shot which explode on impact, and after each round hits a body part, it calls in an artillery shell.

Ahhh, mods....

God, this is a fucking tough one... Favorite title from a favorite franchise? I'm one of the ones who loves all of them, both old and new. I've loved all the different core RPG games for all the ways they've morphed and expanded the continuity and the canon of the wasteland.

I put Fallout 1 in the poll, since ultimately it was my first love in this radioactive harem.

It was a LONG decade between 2 and 3, bye gum.

I never played the original Fallout games (wasn't allowed to play M games at that age), so I am not allowed to have an opinion. FO3 was a piece of fucking shit, but NV had a good amount of entertainment value to it, but since I have nothing to realistically compare it to, my statement regarding the best game of the series is null and void. All I can really say is which is my favorite between FO3 and NV, hence is why I am not allowed to have an opinion.

Perhaps if I ever feel like it, I'll sit down and get FO1 and FO2 to work.

I'm disappointed that no one has yet used the fact that MacGyver himself, Richard Dean Anderson, voiced a character in Fallout to say that that game must be the best.

It should come as no surprise that when I played
He and his town were just about the only survivors in the entire world map.
