I'm really pleasantly surprised by the love for IX; I always thought it was unappreciated by most gaming/FF fans. And you're absolutely right, the soundtrack is really beautiful -- especially the Piano Collection versions.DarkHourPrince said:IX.
It was the first FF game I ever owned. I grew up with it and fell for the quirky characters, the storyline, the strange fantasy world and the beautiful soundtrack. I can play it multiple times and never seem to grow bored of it, truly one of the classics in my book.
This. I loved that game so much. It was the last FF game that I enjoyed if I'm being honest. It just kinda lost something for me when the characters stopped looking like armored marshmallows. Ah Kefka, you sweet psychotic bastard you.Hazy said:VI.
Excellent score, phenomenal (and three-dimensional) cast of characters, and a villain who is a legitimate, yet intriguing threat. It encompasses the charm, determination, and sheer heart that is hard to find in games today, and Final Fantasy VI has it in spades.
The series' send-off to the SNES may be gone, but it is far from forgotten.

and... where's 8?ArcanePedro said:So it's a simple question. which final fantasy is your favourite?
while I'm well aware there have been several of these I still wanted to ask again since Final Fantasy is my favourite gaming series of all time and I can't decide which I like most.
So get voting!
Give reasons if you want to or don't, if you've got more pressing matters, or you're just plain boring.
All the usual no flaming etc, etc
I know, right? Whenever I said my favorite FF was IX people would just kind of stare at me. It's like.. uhh.. awkward much? Sorry, there are things better than VII out there. (That would be why 9 is second in the poll.) I always thought IX was the last memorable FF game and I say memorable because while X was good, I wasn't able to truly get as into it as I was the older games.AC Medina said:I'm really pleasantly surprised by the love for IX; I always thought it was unappreciated by most gaming/FF fans. As a fellow adorer of IX, I must agree. The one thing off the top of my head I can think of that was an issue (and probably the only issue) was that random as all hell boss at the tail end. There was no mention of Nercon at ALL through the whole game, the final boss should have been Trance Kuja but considering that random as all hell boss seemed to be a trend in games back then I suppose it fits in there somehow XD.Lambi said:Final Fantasy IX. It has great characters, great story and great music. Can't find a single wrong thing about it.
