Why is everyone saying that GTA4 had the best controls? I remember thinking that Rockstar went much too far on their quest for total realism when Niko went flying through the air because a taxi had nipped his shirt. The city was dark and boring, the weapons were basic, except for the Rocket Launcher, which confused me (Seriously, if anyone has ever been to New York, you all know that you're about as likely to happen upon a store with a Rocket Launcher as you are a store with a Flamethrower.), and the storyline was the same GTA story that there's ever been, only layered in with gritty dialogue and generic backstories (Really, how many times are Rockstar going to create a free-roam game where the main character's past consists of him doing things he regrets, and then coming to that free-roam enviornment to right the wrongs, all along the way spouting the same lines about how he's doomed to hell and how he is a bad man?)
Sorry, had to get that out.
My personal favorite was probably GTA: Ballad of Gay Tony. Sure, it was only 10 hours long, but that meant there were absolutely no filler missions. The missions themselves were better, it was the only GTA game that's come out for a console this generation that wasn't trying really hard to appear gritty and realistic, the city actually seemed less gray than in other modern GTA games, and overall it was a nice mix of GTA: San Andreas's over the top gameplay and GTA 4's graphics, gameplay mechanics, and ragdoll physics.
