Poll: What's your favourite Half-Life game so far?

I actually really enjoyed 'Opposing Force' but it's not canon anymore...

Nobody's said it's not Canon, Shephard just hasn't reappeared or been referrenced. It's pretty easy to bookend though, the HECU's defeat a second attempted invasion during and slightly after the events of Half Life 1, as well as fighing off the natives of Xen. Unfortunately none of them are around anymore when the Combine jump in via Xen. Thus endeth their story.

i have a love affair with hl1 so i voted that. but half-life2 spawned the most mods ever created with its source engine (right up next to unreal). Valve just kicks so much ass on a revolutionary scale.

and people saying hl2 is more polished than hl1, of course it is right now. but back then, when comparing how hl1 was when it first came out and hl2 when it first came out- they were about tied in the spectrum.

So far the original Half Life is my least favoriet. Maybe it's because I'm playing the PS2 version.(still can't kill that sunofabitch Niliathan.>=[)

I loved Opposing Force. Shepard's wrench was equal to, or even (dare I say it) better than Gordon's crowbar. I want Shepard to come back so badly it hurts.

Is there any offical word on this or is that just because it hasn't been referenced thus far in the Half Life games that came later?

I was just assuming it was non-canon due to it never being mentioned in the 'canon' stuff and also the fact that it was a third party company (Gearbox?).
To be honest, though, I'm not 100% sure it's non-canon. I'd like it to be canon. Adrian Shepherd was awesome.

I don't think they have actually completely ruled out Shepard making a return as of yet. After all, if it wasn't for Opposing Force, we wouldn't have known that Black Mesa got nuked. Anyway, I have a tough choice between Half-Life 1 and 2. The sequel was of course more accomplished but Half-Life 1 does have that nostalgia factor for me. I loaded it up for the first time while home from school for lunch and well...let's just say I rather lost track of time. Also, I miss Xen, so in that regard the original just pips it to the post....

I voted for the original Half-Life - it was pretty much the first hardcore shooter that I played seriously (no cheats, etc.) and my first real glimpse of what games are capable of. Sure, HL2 is more polished, plays better, etc. but I played the original first and it will always hold a special place in my heart <3

HL2. I loved them all, but HL2 took the cake. It balanced the horror aspect perfectly with the combat against the Combine, and even further enhanced my hatred for Barnacles. Man those things creep me out.

Waiting for Episode Three though...could be a while.

i luv having big giagantic bosses at the ned of levels or at least in some parts of the game to make it interesting and challenging. half life 1 had some, and its story line never got me bored.
