Stand-Up Bass. In the hands of a master it is simply... amazing. Witness the prowess of Edgar Meyer.

Cornet.

Yes, we might be the trumpets wimpy little brother, but damn it all if I didn't love that sound. Nothing cuts a mournful tone across an entire orchestra better.

Well, except maybe an oboe, but it always sounded to me like a sad duck.

I love violins on music, they can portray so many emotions, and they sound just beautiful when played all together and with different layers.

Clarinet, naturally.

We rock the wood sound like you wouldn't believe.

Me and a friend play in several orchestras, and we are constantly slagging off each other's instruments, he being a flautist, and I a trumpeter.
I'm required by the code of woodwind solidarity to take his side. This is further exacerbated by you being a trumpeter, and therefore competition.

...punk.
Oh look at you and your fancy mellow-ness.

*Narrows eyes*
So say the guy with the instrument so lazy it uses eight fingerings to play fifty billion notes!

*rimshot*

It's amusing, because in an orchestra I play in I sit behind the clarinets, and I've given at least two of them headaches on several occasions (Not by playing especially loudly on purpose, but because I have some especially loud solos (March to the Scaffold springs to mind)
Never had to worry about that in my band (we had the saxophones behind us). The flutes had to deal with it, though.

Heh. Ever get mutes as gag gifts?
Nope, only extremely dirty looks (and loud complaints).

Flutes get it too, it goes Trumpets-Clarinets-Flutes in a row.

Poor wind

Harpsichord. Or pianoforte. They're both lovely keyboard instruments... I'm a little surprised that not even the piano was included in the poll :(
Piano is my favourite instrument, but as out of all...7 odd orchestras I play in, there are none, I left it out. You can vote 'Other' for it.

See, I'm a way better Pianist than I am trumpeter...but yeah, it's instruments from an orchestra,

Yeah...my band had the low brass interposed between most of us. 'Cept the flutes.

Still waiting to hear from that guy who thought clarinets couldn't do vibrato...

Violas are alright depends on how they are used. Anyway I prefer the Clarinet overall as it has a great range for a wood instrument and has a nice sorta silky sound. Aside from ones I play I would go with Trumpet maybe but the stuff I play is more Concert band stuff which is much more varied than Classical stuff so the ranges and use of instruments would be different.

Edit: I do have to say I am not surprised by the poll results given that people will be very biased towards their own instrument and given the sheer volume of strings in orchestras.

Tuba...

yes I do play a tuba, why do you ask?
Hey I play tuba too! HIGH FIVE! :D
Holy shit another Tuba player? Awesome!
I'm a B flat, how about yourself?
Well I'm new to the Tuba. Marching band ended about 2 months ago and I played sousaphone for it. I was put down to play Baritone for our Concert Band 1 but I switched to tuba instead. I'm also playing Trumpet for our Jazz band so I'm all over the place! :p

I love the cello because I love all string sounds, but to me the cello has the nicest blend of brightness and warmth. It's a great, round sound.

This poll fails without a "triangle" option.

I played trombone. I loved it for jazz but hated it for classical orchestral music.

I'm going with chimes/bells. Screw calling them percussion, they're an instrument in their own right.
