This rifle does not require hearing protection, at only 120 decibels*

*sounds loud on paper, but you have to realize this is a sliding scale. A rifle at 130 decibels is twice as loud as one at 120 decibels. A .22LR fires at 140 decibels and a 30.06 rifle will fire at 160 or so decibels. Handguns are around 150 decibels, unsuppressed, so this rifle has about the same loudness as most suppressed handguns.

Still a good idea to use some hearing protection. OSHA standards would have you wear plugs or muffs for transient sounds of 130 dB I think.

Still your point remains that you're looking at range and a 120 dB pop at a couple hundred yards won't even be remarkable.

Colt 1911 all day every day.

Ive yet to handle a handgun yet, that feels so alive in my hand. Designed in the late 1890's and early 1900's, adopted in 1911 by the US military, and still in use by Special Forces Groups in the US today.

I own a few 1911 type guns today, and carry a Ed Brown Kobra Carry chambered in .45ACP in a Commander size frame. Its a fantastic handgun, i love having it on my side everyday.

I voted shotgun. Because as somebody said in something, there's nothing quite as intimidating as the sound of a shotgun. That and in games I always feel just that little bit more bad-ass with a good pump-action shottie in my virtual hands. Just add shades.

Then it would be a bolt action rifle for range (WWI, WWII Era) then a muzzle loading flintlock

In game LMG's I just like to shoot, and to keep shooting. Reload times suck. But I have a hundred, maybe 200 rounds to pump out before that.

IRL I would like to have a sniper rifle. My uncle has one, couldn't shoot it cause I was around 10 at the time. But I've had a fondness for them.

I prefer my 1860 Colt navy and army pistols, but then again, im old fashion like that. plus I got them at an estate sale for like, nothing compared to what I should have paid since people didnt know they were int here.

Shotgun because I can aim anywhere and hit them. It also makes a cool sound.
If I had to use one in real life though then the sniper. You know hang back... shoot people... minimal risk of death.

Sub-machine guns in games, specifically Killzone 3. Let me play an engineer, and doom befalls the average player. Still hate sniper specific maps though.

If we're talking about real life, though? Well...I'd either go with a FN FAL Para or a HK USP.
The Para because it's ugly compared to most rifles, but kicks like a mule and has a decent inner and outer range (It can actually be used as a mid distance sniping tool if you need to), and uses a mid sized ammunition that is a bit harder to find. The USP for the safety firing features and the fact that it aims smoother than a Desert Eagle but still kicks out just as large of a round. Personally, I'd still prefer a combat knife every day of the week, but then again, I live in NY, so most every gun takes ungodly amounts of time and paperwork to get and keep. And we can't own the fun ones.

In games, I'm all about semi-automatic, high-caliber, high-capacity battle rifles (M14s in many games, the SCAR in Killing Floor... only when I keep it on semi, though. Can't stand the sights on the M14EBR in that game).

In real life, I'm all about my 12 gauge and my .45s.

hmm, i'm a weapon nut, swords, knives, pointy object meant to do horrible, scary things, and guns. it's funny because i'm a pacifist, but i still find the functional beautyof a well made weapon just plain awesome.

so my favorite guns? Assault rifles. versatile, powerful, and effective at most ranges. i absolutely love guns like the M4, the G36, Tavor 21, and the XM-8

after that i live good side arm. Glocks, Sigs, and the like. but my favorite are m1911's just sexy guns right there. Boy Black ops got it right with those suckers haha, i would love running around and actually being aggressive with an m1911 and an extended mag... such a fun time.

A tie between Bullpups and sniper rifles. If I have to go with one I would say bullpup (thou I chose sniper in the poll), it is just more usable.
