Poll: What's Your Game of the Year?

With 2012 to an end(and maybe even the world), I want to see what the various members of the Escapist community thought was the best game of the year. For me, it has to be Mass Effect 3. I loved all the improvement to combat, storytelling, dialog choices, and so much more. Yes, it's disappointing that all your choices didn't matter in the ending sequence, but I didn't matter since I had fun along the way and my past choices were referenced along the way. So that's my Game of the Year, what's yours?

If you're going to do a poll for this, couldn't you have at least not chosen the games that are all on the "2012 Escapist Viewers choice awards"?

Anyway, my GoTY so far is The Walking Dead. It has quite a number of issues (railroading, technical challenges, cut-scene stupidity, and so on) but I don't think I've ever loved hating myself as much as I did in that game. Like the comic/tv show, the game doesn't pull any punches in the moral choice system, forcing you to do some pretty awful things. A steal at $25; this is one of the best games I've ever played, let alone 2012.

Dragon's Dogma.

Already said that in another GOTY thread.

While I like Dishonored it isn't even close to my GOTY.

I gave it Dragon's Dogma because it was surprisingly good and I still play it now. Most of the games on that list (besides Far Cry 3, X-Com and Assassins Creed 3 because I don't own them) I played once and will never touch them again. Dishonored is the only one I will play again at some point.

It's one of the most satisfying games I've ever had the pleasure of playing. And in terms of stealth games (that I've played), I only put Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory ahead of it. It's wonderful. PLAY IT.

Crusader Kings 2

No other game regardless of genre has held my attention as long nor kept me as enthralled as Crusader Kings 2. It's just a brilliant take on the grand strategy genre that takes a clever idea and gets it damned near perfect.

I can easily picture myself still playing this game for years to come. No other game released this year, no matter how good some of them have been, is likely to achieve that sort of consistent lasting power. That's why it's my game of the year.

Does Skyrim count as last year? Most likely XCOM. Love that game, I didn't even wait for it to go on sale.
