I'm guessing the top 3 positions will be taken by, in no particular order:

Portal 2
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
and Skyrim

As much as i'd hate to say it, unless AC: Revelations turns out to be really amazing or unique there is no chance of it being game of the year...

So far my favorite games this year are Portal2 & Terraria. The game of the year for me will probably be BF3.

Call me nit picky but wouldn't it be a good idea to wait the damn things actually come out before calling them game of the year. As far as i can tell the only one on that list thats out right now is infamous 2.

isn't it a bit to early to pick a GOTY? it,s still August!
And some of the games in the poll aren't even out yet.

While we're at it, let's pick 2014's Academy Awards and 2025's Nobels.

I love the way you've put all the really dull, repetitive and mainstream game for options.

I'll tell you know it should be minecraft for just about everyone that has a sense for recognition of what is good.

Skyrim, because I'm a Bethsoft ho.

If a catastrophe happens and it sucks, my best runner-up is Dead Island, I'm having a bad vibe about Deus Ex. Let's hope I'm wrong.
Take this from someone who played the first 10 hours of DX3: If you loved the first one, you are so much gonna love the second one as well.

And you'll play it: Over and over and over again.

Deus Ex3 may still turn out a prettier take on the maligned DX2.
It isn't. It's much closer to the original than the second one.

gameplay doesnt look so great...
and, ive already watched all of Dragonball Z before... so these cutscenes really dont interest me.
Well dragon ball is kinda dull in the sense that most of it is charging up attacks and energy beams.
And since when did dragonball have a Buddha the size on a planet poking a guy to death and another man with a gigantic sword that stabs a guy from the moon into earth?

I think the combat looks great excluding the UI I saw in one gameplay vid and the Boss battle against the normal sized giant buddha as its just a shooting gallery.

One thing that has been missing from action games is IMPACT and this game has it from what I have seen.
Most action games work with slicing attacks with no sense of impact till the last move, such as Bayonetta and God of War. They feel like your doing nothing until the last blow.
It reminds me of Gears of War 2 and how every enemy reacted to your shots and such.

Minecraft isn't my cup of tea. I don't enjoy that type of game, such, it is not good to me, and I don't like your overgeneralizing.

Bastion is great. The lack of Portal 2 is irksome. The other games I am looking forward to are Skyrim and ME 3. I'm also riding the hope that DOTA 2 fixes the community scene.

Because all other options are games I honestly don't care about, either Deus Ex 3,or Dead Island.

Arkham city for me. I think they're trying to please everyone, and if they manage it it'll be really interesting.

So far, probably Portal 2. I bought Alice: Madness Returns a few weeks ago... actually more like a couple of months ago, but haven't got around to playing it yet. Come year's end though, it'll take nothing short of a miracle for anything to beat Skyrim.

I refuse to vote for games not even released yet let alone ones I haven't played. So far my GOTY candidate is Portal 2. It's a very strong and well designed game (it is Valve after all). It's a tough one to top and I hope it doesn't get forgotten about when the GOTY nominations come in because it was released early on in the year.

So far, Catherine. But none of the big players are out, so it'll definitely change. Pretty sure it's going to be Skyrim

Probably Portal 2 so far. LA Noire was really good, but Portal 2 was more fun, honestly.

As for what I think will be the Game of the Year once it comes out, I'm saying Gears of War 3. I'm so excited for it and I loved the multiplayer beta. I can't wait for next month...
