I'm spoofing your logic again. Tbh I'm getting the impression you just want to argue or really don't "get it", it is increasingly clear to me that op's statement has been interpreted differently to each of us, in a way that is completely obvious to one but not to the other, which could be for a whole variety of reasons.

If you don't see that...then we will be here until the end of the days. Think what you will, but I think this talk has come to its conclusion. I have been reminded yet again of how different people's cognition can lead to conflicting conclusions, so this talk was beneficial in that sense at least ^^

Yes, but that statement is wrong.

He said "I wonder if that means gamers are smarter than regular people."

The claim "gamers are smarter than regular people." means, literally, that if you take a gamer and a regular person then, every single time, the gamer will be smarter. That is a statement of 100% correlation. It says nothing about causation.

It doesn't say gamers are smarter because they are gamers, it doesn't say games make people smart, nothing. There is no causal statement there whatsoever. The statement could be true by a casual factor, or purely by coincidence. Therefore, it isn't causal in nature.

i've taken an official one, and got 144, did a internet on, got 141, did a school internal one and got 137. You know i think they suck so badly.

The only legitimate IQ test I've had gave inconclusive results, because I was born with poor muscle tone that affects my motor skills, so it made the physical aspects of the test - writing and puzzle-solving - completely inconsistent with other results.

However, when I was twelve, I did a test that qualified me to get into a selective school (the school where all the smart kids go), and so, according to their experience, any kid who gets into the 'A' group, which I did, has a minimum IQ of 135.

I'm probably not Mensa material though. My mind doesn't work in a way that makes visual puzzle solving or pattern recognition easy for me. I'm more audio/language based. I'm also crap at lateral thinking. I'm just one of those people who seems to know everything, but will miss the obvious.

These tests are hilariously broken, and even an accurate IQ test has severe limitations.

Here is an image (provided by Wikipedia) of a normal distribution of IQ results. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f7/IQ_curve.svg Notice the incredibly tiny section to the right of the 140 line. Notice the total absence of a 150+ region marked on that graph. (It's too small to bother with a normal distribution).

Not a single result under 100? Yeah right.

i got tested a while back for a learning disability. It wasnt for like autism lol, it was dysgraphia, which is a type of dyslexia but instead of reading things wrong, i write them wrong lol. But anyway i was in the high 110 low 120 area, and this was in like 4th grade, so its probably something more now lol.


Also, this is the truth, so dont say anything like "omg wow ur such a noob ur lying".

You know IQ tests are scaled to age right? So in fact, it probably didn't go up, in most cases IQ goes down as you age. Also 110-120 isn't a mind blowingly good score, as 100 just means your average.
