Poll: What's your opinion of Strategy Guides?

I've mostly grown out of Strategy Guides. Some games like Fallout 3 or a new Pokemon warranted a guide, mainly because there was so much stuff that I needed a reference guide. Nowadays, like everyone else, I'm quite enjoying getting the guide's content for free instead of forking out $25.

The guide books I purchase are mainly for the artwork. I never actually use them for the actual guide part. I just like to get the ones that will look nice on a shelf.

My thoughts are Why pay for one on paper when i can find one online for free

I used to buy them for the occasional tough game but then I got internet and that was that.

I got the one for BioShock 2 because it was 20% off if I got it opening day and it has saved my life in campaign mode so many times, I love it.

I only get them for Pokemon games once in a while, the only one I actually owned was the Pokemon Gold one and I'm gonna get the guide for Soul Silver, but I usually just use online.

Well I like them, I don't use them until I have completed a game, but I love books, and the internet is only great if you don't have to keep letting other people use your laptop :S The FFXII collector's edition guide is a lovely book and the Dragon Age collector's edition is gorgeous!

If you can't get it free online, be patient. Someone will eventually write one. Either that or be skilled enough to not need one but no one is perfect.
