Actually, I don't think they're that high, but I still think $60 Canadian is a bit too much. I'd buy more if they were $50, because saving $10 every time would really add up. Besides, $50 is a far more reasonable price.

If people didn't really think games weren't worth 60 dollars people wouldn't be buying them. Reall the markets correct for this sort of thing especially with luxury goods producers jack up the price until it reaches a point where they see diminishing returns due to lowered sales and drop it down to a point of equalibrium. 60 dollars isn't to bad for what goes into making a game.
I have no problem paying prices at what they currently are. They were about this price for snes games way back when as well, and I wasn't whining then either. I remember when Breath of Fire 2 was 80 (I got it at 30, a steal!), and Lufia 2 was 50.
Either way, if 60 is too high at release, it drops about 10 in the coming weeks anyway, so I'm never disappointed.

Pretty much. I would say prices are too high if I actually paid full price at release, but thanks to Steam, GOG and indie bundles, 95% of the games I buy are under $10, and probably 80% of them are under $5. Games might as well be free at this point.Matthew94 said:

Too expensive. In Sweden new releases come at 600SEK(about £60) and the second hand prices are just as awful.
I decided to give a fuck you to our game stores here and begun purchasing my games from the UK instead. Half the price on new releases, cheap as fuck for 1 year+ old games, and no delivery fees. <3
If anyone else is fed up with the prices I suggest checking out the site I buy from. Not trying to give them free commersial here, but I really love that site. Bought probably over a hundred games from there and never had any problems.

Thanks to Steam, not a big problem. Unfortunately, I like my physical copies so they're a bit too high. I do mean a bit too high since I live in NZD. If it was an exact conversion of US dollars I'd be happy.

How is the price of games? To damn high, for new, recently released ones at least. I cannot afford a single brand new game on my budget.
Also, the high price deters consumers from taking chances on a product. I am willing to take a chance on something that is 20 or 30 dollars. 60? Hell no, I am buying what I know I will like. I am not taking a chance on something that I might like. Make games more affordable, and I guarantee you will see sales go up on the more "risky" titles.

I chose Other I live in Canada so games are usually priced at $59.99

These games I "deem worthy" of my money however games like dragon age, Prototype (small time games ONLY IN COMPARISON TO THE BIG GUYS) should be valued at $50. I'm totally happy to pay the extra $10 for those bigger games because I know I will invest my time into. Regardless of how many bad times I've had playing CoD I have definitely got my money's worth out of the game with at least a week played online.
In fact I'm going to get MW3 tomorrow MOSTLY for the campaign but I love winning, (i'm a 2.00 kd player) I love hearing the voices of my enraged opponents calling me a cheater when in fact I just strafed. LOVE IT. (I do like games other than CoD though of course )

People recently complain about it like the prices have been going up when they haven't. The price of videogames has remained pretty much the same since the days of the Atari, hell, if anything they're cheaper now thanks to digital distribution and the like.
If you're unwilling to buy a game full price why not just wait till it's on sale? If it's a PC game it's pretty much guaranteed to have a sale somewhere online within a few months with a lower cost.

Way too much, especially in Australia. The only games I've ever bought at launch are The Witcher 2, and Half-life 2, both digitally. Paying up to $100 a game is a bit too much of an investment, despite how many hours of fun they might give you. I am quite content to wait a while for the price of games to go down, thankfully there's that.

I don't really mind it much. If disks ever become to expensive there are is allways Steam. My problem is over priced DLC especially on disk DLC, if something is on the disk that I pay you to own and have access to what you put on the disk you shouldn't be able to say,"Oh you want that, well no not until you give me $15." But that's a whole different question.
In Australia, you'd expect a new game for no less than $80. $110 at the most for a standard edition. I see people complaining all the time that $US60 is too much, but to us that's a bargain (and it's not a fault of conversion rates, our dollars have been equal with theirs for a long time). It's criminal, I reckon. Especially for a game that they know will sell well, like Call of Duty. Activision can't use the whole "we need to make our money back" thing, because they'd be doing that anyway.
