Was in the Netherlands when I started talking so English and Dutch are level pegging for my first language. Sadly I can't speak much Dutch any more. Had to do Spanish in the States, didn't stick too well and since it's Mexican I can't use it here in Europe. :(

Gotta say French overall. After six years of learning, the most use I've gotten out of it was translating French subtitles on a Japanese-dub anime. Good times.

My second language is English, which i have practiced to near perfection. My first is Russian, and i'm even better at it. Plus,i want to learn German, too.
Do you have the russian accent, i love those. If you don't remeber, about half a year or so ago there was a Russian flight that had to be delayed because the pilot was drunk. NPR ([U.S]Natianal Public Radio) did a little thing on it and someone had the best russian accent impersonation, i loled for about 10 minutes.

I learned a little japanese in an evening course this year. I'm a little rusty, but it's stuck in my head better than my GCSE in german

I think Germanic languages are more fun to swear in, since all the Spanish swears I can think of don't come across as angry enough. Having said that, Romantic languages are good for seething rage. Welsh swears, now those are fun. :)

EDIT: Maybe I should add that Swedish is my first language.
Just curious, since you write English really well, how hard was it to learn? I hear that it's one of the hardest languages out there because of all of our rules for words (their there they're etc), But that could be schoolyard bullcrap I've always wondered.
You didn't ask me, but I'll answer anyway:
It largely depends on who you ask. As a German, I can only say it's been really, really easy. The grammar is incredibly simple to grasp because both languages have common roots, so it's mostly the same as in German, just without most of the fuss (I'm oversimplifying here, obviously). Plus we're starting to learn it fairly early (most of us start in fifth grade), so by the time we're 20, we've already had lots of practice ;)
(Of course, there's also a downside: Most German learners of English fail to recognize that that just because it's easy to learn doesn't mean it isn't hard to master. So most people pick up a pretty decent English in no time and think 'Wow, that was easy', stop dead and sound like Hans from a WWII movie for the rest of their lives)

For someone from Scandinavia or the Netherlands, I figure it must be a little easier to pick up some skills along the way because they don't get their movies dubbed ;)

I have always "been around" English. A lot of videogames, movies, forums and such. So I guess I've learned a lot from that. If you'd ask me about the different rules I wouldn't have a clue, I just write/say what sounds best and hope it's right.

To answer your question: No, I didn't find it very hard to learn. But I can only speak for myself.

It looks like I'm one of the few (on this post) who can speak Spanish. I'm not fluent but I took many years of it in school and have been to Mexico where I used it to get around and have some conversations.

I also like to start emails off by saying hola. I don't know why though.

I do speak a bit of German but my second language, I'd say, is <url=http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Angrish>Angrish.
Especially where technology is concerned.
