Exactly. At least make an effort for grammar, we wont fault you on a couple of mistakes.

But I quietly rage when I see people leaving out any trace of punctuation in walls of text, dotted with 'dis' and 'dat' and 'u' and 'u r' and so forth.

Technology has given us the ability to transmit our thoughts for others to read at a lightning quick pace. It really take much less time to type words out than to write them, and still we need shortcuts??

Plus, much like others say, I 'hear' these words internally when I read them, and it makes the user look like a moron.

tl:dr, it doesnt have to be perfect grammar, just don't write like an idiot for the sake of brevity

I generally talk like I type so it ain't no problem for me dagnabbit!

What really bothers me is when my friends in meatspace use web abbreviations. such as:

"I was playing Wow! last night..."

"what was so great about last night? did you get laid or something?"

"playing Wow!"

"Wow! What?"

"I was on a raid in Wow! and..."

"Are you doing meth again?"

and so on like the "Who is on first?" sketch.

I have known people to say LOL, ROLF, SRSLY, and abbreviate Gears of War to "GOW" I have also known people to say "El-eet-three-t."

Now I wear only black as I mourn for the death of the human language.

As long as I can read it and understand it, it's fine.
Aslong as it doesn't look like crap with loads of shortings and stuff, cause damn, those are annyoing to read. I can handle a few your/you're etc errors (I used to do the typical then/than error orz)

I dislike that my firefox is in swedish since I mainly type in english lol Silly bro.

It's a bit too late at night for me to figure out if you're joking or not, but I completely agree. It doesn't have to read like a scientific paper, but I hate the way most people write on the internet now, it's frustrating to read and ridiculous to comprehend. =X

I'm a major grammar Nazi. I can't stand it when people type like monkeys who have been thumped on the head with a hammer.

I think it's incredibly important if you want to not look like an idiot to type with proper grammar, punctuation and spelling.

Improper spelling and grammar are important regardless of the communication medium. People say a lot about themselves in the choices they make, and this is one of them...

so long as they have proper spelling and a semi reasonable structure i am fine with it

we have spell checkers for a reason and its not any faster typing with 1/3 of the letters missing

If a particular moronic poster has a poor grasp on grammar, I'll grief him/her till he/she cries their eyes out. I rarely works, but that doesn't stop me from trying. On the other hand, if it's a reasonable sensible poster that makes mistakes, I don't mind it. It does, however, take longer to read and that's annoying.
And if someone types a freaking novel's worth of text and doesn't use commas, punctuations or paragraphs, I don't read it. It's most likely not worth the effort.

I hate grammar Nazis more than I hate people who are crap with grammar or spelling.

It's just a disgusting type of pedantry and snobbery that makes me want to snap people in the face.

I mean, I'll assume a person with incorrect grammar is a moron but I won't get angry with them.

Also if I start criticizing others for grammar and spelling, I have to be right 100% of the time and I just don't want that kind of pressure!

As long as the person is making the effort to spell correctly and use decent grammar I don't mind. It is when someone is deliberately mis-spelling words to sound "cool" when I do my nut. I particularly dislike leet-speak.

This site uses proper grammar and spelling, as for the rest of the internet? Not so much... it doesn't annoy me when others use poor grammar, but I try and keep my grammar to the standard of The Escapist on most sites.

Important but I can usually deal with it so long as an attempt was made and it's understandable. If it is nothing but a run on sentence filled with leet speak and internet shorthand it makes my want to stab the closest living thing near me. This plant isn't going to live very long at the rate things are going.

Grammar is fine as long as it's minor things. When it's the first thing I notice upon glancing at a post it pisses me off.

Phew. I thought this was going to be a thread which is all about hating people with bad spelling, and trust me, it's very very bad.

Bad grammar. Stuff like "1 l1k3 t0 wr173 l1k3 7h15 L0L" annoys me a lot. Maybe it's the occasional word eg: "h8" every now and again but if they type constantly like what I did above it get on my nerves and I struggle to read it.

I do really like grammar. I generally try and get things right, but I know I mess some words up. I don't mind how other people type, if I can read it, communication has been achieved.
It is a little intimidating sometimes, knowing your spelling is going to be judged my lots of other grammar nerds. I think if someone has something intelligent to say, its more important than how they say it.

It's really not that hard to use proper grammar. A little mistake here and there is ok, and I will seldom actually comment about other people's spelling, but at least try.

The sad thing is, most people who criticise other people's 'grammar' seem to have little idea of what the word actually means, often confusing it with punctuation/spelling and making themselves look like massive arses in the process.

I use proper grammar for the most part, but I couldn't care less about how other people use it.
