As long as you don't hurt my eyes, I won't correct you. If you did hurt my eyes, then you honestly need to learn to use punctuation.

Didnt vote, none fit me.

It depends:
If the person has a good, well thought out opinion/thought and manage to convey it using bad grammar, fine.
If the person has bad grammar and stupid ideas I facepalm and move on.

Grammar can usually affect my initial view of someone. If a person from my own country address me with terrible grammar my initial thoughts of this person will be even worse. If you communicate like an idiot I am going to assume you are an idiot. People with bad grammar has less of a chance of grabbing my attention. However the fact is that English is not the mother tongue of everyone, and as such everyone can not be expected to have perfect grammar.

I am always open to the possibility that people are not morons, even if they spell like a 3-year-old, but the first impression usually suffers.

Holy flaming flying ass-crackers I get pretty damned annoyed at people who constantly screw up spelling even simple things. When discussing threads and responses on forums and whatnot and attempting to read things to friends, it can really get irritating to have to continuously stop to figure out what the hell someone is trying to say because the misspellings slow the process down.
I've talked with people who are both elementary and high school level teachers who admit that kids are getting worse every year in their ability to both spell words and write them correctly. I was not some spelling bee champ when I was a kid, but over the years my abilities have improved and I like to take pride in my own ability to spell things correctly with only making a few mistakes in the course of a month. But it just chaps my ass when someone who should know how to spell a word out completely and they are just too damned lazy to do it, or they think it is stupid to waste the time to spell every single word out.
There is this hot mess of a girl that I talk to whose main source of communication was her cell phone and it is almost like she re-learned how to spell through texting. Even phones that have a passive spell check don't save you on every occasion.

Screwing up spelling "the" is common enough and is easily overlooked. I've done that a couple of times myself, but I try to correct it before it gets posted. But people who use the wrong "there" or "their" is one of my pet peeves. For some reason people confuse the two of those the most often that I've seen, and it can be frustrating when taking a sentence at face value and it just doesn't make sense.
The upshot to being known as a commonly good speller makes it a lot easier to fool someone when they start to message you because people know you wouldn't spell something wrong because of how much it pisses you off. Some people just seem to be in too big of a hurry to post or respond sometimes, and I have never seen an instance where it was that detrimental to respond to something so quick it was worth looking stupid over.

I always try to use good grammar in my posts. If I'm reading other people's posts and there are some grammatical errors, I tend not to worry about it as long as it's readable.

As I said, Paul. His first letter to the Corinthians 14, 34 to be more precise. One of the more problematic passages in the NT, I'm sure you'll agree.
I know you said Paul, but I couldn't be certain you were talking about Paul from the Bible, eh? Anyway, thanks for specifying the passage. Very interesting.

As much as it annoys me, I can usually ignore it. But if I see someone 'TiePinG Lyke DiS!' I just won't bother reading their post.

I try and keep spelling and grammar correct, it doesn't really annoy me when other people don't bother. Only unless you can't understand what people are saying or If They Capitalize Every Single Word that annoys me.
This. Oh god this.

I find visually bad grammar a good warning. It tells me something like "Your gut has told you what is written here will be rubbish. You know this from experience."

I'm en English major and a writer, so it kind of annoys me at times. However, I'm not one of those people who rants about how things like "lol" and "brb" are destroying the English language. Everywhere has their own dialect, and on the internet that dialect is dictated by communicating things that can't be easily communicated by text, and doing it quickly and easily. Saying "I am laughing at what you said!" is just kind of awkward and doesn't flow well in a sentence" adding an "lol" to the end of something communicates the same thing, and communicates it well. Using it in formal writing or actual speech is taking it too far, but I don't think a bit of internet lingo like that is an affront to the English language, as long as the writer knows what s/he is doing and doesn't formulate the entire sentence like that.

I'm not quite a grammar nazi but I'm close. It's fine if it's for forums, text & instant messages, personal emails etc. as long as it's still readable but the most I abbreviate is not bothering with capitals. I cant stand anything badly written thats supposed to be formal - THAT really pisses me off. I once sent a memo back to my old manager with all his mistakes circled in red ink and an F grade. Sadly he didn't see the humor in it, luckily for me I didn't have to work for him for much longer.

I am not a humble englishman and not the best at english but I try to be as correct as I can. I tend do skip posts that are grammaly wrong because of it.

Before hitting the post button I read through these three lines three times.

It shouldn't be the most important thing. Some people are just incapable of good grammar. I don't have a problem with bad punctuation or spelling.

It's shorthand text speak! It's rotting our minds!

(All above comments had me so worried I spell checked this - there was no need, but this is my first comment so better to make sure).

I do not mind bad grammar in a casual conversation like forum; however, if you are going to try to make an argument then it would be best if you use proper grammar. Otherwise, it gives the feeling of I don't care how I say what I say, let alone what you are going to say. It just makes me feel as if you have not put enough thought into your argument and are simply trolling for the lulz.

Bad grammar annoys me, but I rarely feel it's worth mentioning. As long as your writing is intelligible and not blatantly retarded, I'll just silently judge you.

I generally talk like I type so it ain't no problem for me dagnabbit!

What really bothers me is when my friends in meatspace use web abbreviations. such as:

"I was playing Wow! last night..."

"what was so great about last night? did you get laid or something?"

"playing Wow!"

"Wow! What?"

"I was on a raid in Wow! and..."

"Are you doing meth again?"

and so on like the "Who is on first?" sketch.

I have known people to say LOL, ROLF, SRSLY, and abbreviate Gears of War to "GOW" I have also known people to say "El-eet-three-t."

Now I wear only black as I mourn for the death of the human language.
Personally, I hate it when people abbreviate gears of war to GOW, mainly because I always think they mean god of war.

Also I think it's ironic that abbreviate is such a long word.
