Depends on the topic at hand. The more you would like your opinion considered and understood, the more effort you should put into it. When on a forum, you have the time to check what you've written before you click the button to post it. If it appears you've made an effort, then I'll make an effort to overlook any mistakes made; if it looks like you don't care, I won't either.

Eye halve a spelling chequer
It came with my pea sea,
It plainly marques four my revue
Miss steaks eye kin knot sea.

Eye strike a key and type a word
And weight for it two say,
Weather eye and wring oar write
It shows me strait a weigh.

As soon as a mist ache is maid
It nose bee fore two long,
And eye can put the error rite
Its rare lea ever wrong.

To rite with care is quite a feet
Of witch won should bee proud,
And wee mussed dew the best wee can,
Sew flaw's are knot aloud.

Eye have run this poem threw it
Your sure reel glad two no,
Its letter perfect awl the weigh
My chequer tolled me sew.

language is a privilege, not a right. if i ran the world, the internet would be locked by a ten-question quiz as to the proper use of the comma, the apostrophe, and common homophones (your/you're, their/there/they're).

My view on it? It's going completely downhill, and sometimes I feel like it's only me who is using it.

Thank god somebody got it!

I was getting pretty worried.
I try not to let those sorts of things (than/then and could of/could've, for example) get to me like they used to, but that's one that I find really glaring for some reason - they don't really bother me too much, but they do jump right out when I see them. After learning how languages actually work and change, I find it difficult to get my grammar nazi on.

It doesn't bother me in the slightest. Hell I'm hardly a grammatical genius, I make mistakes all the time and I've probably made a few now but sod it. What's important to me is WHAT you type not HOW. Grammar Nazi's have always come across as incredibly petty to me.

I think that if you're voicing an opinion, you should use the correct grammar otherwise people will read your post and immediately assume you're some kind of cretin whose opinion is not worth hearing.

That's what I do anyhow.

I think bad grammar is allright if it's clear that the person is joking or not very good at english. "bat wen its ritten liek dis", I want to stab people in the face across the Internet!
What I mean to say is, I personally try to keep my grammar in the highest possible regard, but as long as something is readable I don't really mind.

I don't really mind the odd mistake as long as the post is readable.

Although my grammar is far from perfect, as a matter of fact. It's not even close.

Although the whole Internet speak, I just won't tolerate.

It does annoy me when others don't at least make a half hearted attempt at spelling/grammar while online though I suppose it certainly isn't something I expect to see. If you want to appear intelligent and thoughtful in a realm where the only method of communication is the typed word, then the first step has to be at least making an attempt to spell words properly and use correct grammar.

For the most part, I'm not too bothered (as long as it's comprehensible and doesn't make me work overtime just to figure out what's being said). However, I have couple of pet peeves in that area that just tick me off. Biggest one: People who don't understand the difference between its and it's. Gah.

Unless I'm writing a serious paper I don't really care and use it some but I skip over other parts. If you can understand it mission accomplished

As long as posts use basic grammer; full stops and commas and whatnot, its fine.

I dont complain about minor gramatical errors just the lack of it all together.

I find most internet "grammar" annoying. This may sound a wee bit harsh, but anyone who writes "u" and "ur" and the like unironically should be beaten with a sack of doorknobs.

As long as what you're writing is easy to understand, and doesn't need decyphering i have no problem with slight lack of grammar or typos/misspells.

The thing i dislike is when text is written with no paragraphs, so it's basicly a wall of text, it makes for a much mroe troublesome read, than typos, where the word is still recognisable.
But regardless, i'd never whine about it like some otehr gramamr nazi, i fit's too screwed for me to read, i'll just not read it, that simple. No-ones forcing me to do so anyways.

I'll usually skip stuff wRiTTeN lIEK 7h15, cause i really couldn't be bothered, it's prolly not important anyways. ANd it's definitely not on purpose cause someone had something to say but didn't bother with spellcheck, it's usually someone who has very little to say, but plenty of time to write it out that way.

Oh and i do mind the typos done on purpose to spell viagra, cause some tards think it'll pass a spam filter... unfortunately i get some e-mail which iw ant in my spam-box, so i have to dig through all the mails from tards who think i need medication to grow my dick and keep it hard, AND apaprently i need breast implants as well...

None of your options realy fit with my opinion on the matter so I won't vote in the poll.

I believe different circumstances can call for a different level of grammar and communication. For example here on the escapist I mostly post with correct grammar, however if I'm in game with friends, i'll often ditch grammar either for some laughs and inside jokes, or because it's easier and faster to type short-hand mid game.
