Aren't we at at a point now in gaming that we could feasibly make a game out of Robert Jordan's massive story. I keep thinking about how epic Dragon Age felt playing it for the first time. For the first time, in a long time, I feel like the story might be able to be played out on screen. Thoughts?

Yes and no, the game they already made was a piece of crap, but if I recall correct RJ had nothing to do with it and they didn't even bother trying to setting or story. I don't think a game based on any of the MC's would work all that well, but perhaps a game investigating background events or events prior to the series. Or they could wait till BS finishes the series and then make a game detailing events after the series. Either way they need to have BS with RJ's notes as the guy all story stuff goes through.

Wow, I remember hearing about that, but never actually got to see any game play. I also heard about an action game that didn't get very far either... But to my original point, a DECENT game. That one kind of reminded me of Bioshock lol

There were rumors of a movie/TV/MMO thing for WoT a few years back. I don't know if they were true or just internet rumors, though. Probably the latter. I could definitely see an Oblivion style game set in the WoT universe. In fact, I think it would work out pretty well so long as the main characters from the books were just NPCs in the game and the time period was before or after the books, to avoid fucking up the plot too much.

Your right about the NPC part. There are WAY to many char. to try and play them all. But I think, a setup like Dragon age, where you can play as a party, or switch would be cool. Once you get into the story, the main characters are never together anyway. Being able to play out all of the cool stuff in the story would be nice. Maybe like a cross between ES:O and Dragon age. The hard part would be explaining everything without having to read or watch a lot of it. What method would you use to tell the story, even if the game play is like ES:O or even Dragon age, how do you tell the over arching story?

I don't care if they can or not. I want them to try.

I'm perfectly willing to write off that one attempt as someone trying to remake Witchaven and picking the wrong estabished fantasy setting for it.

The Wheel of Time FPS abandonware game was a very VERY small glimpse at what I think the potential Wheel of Time universe has to succeed as a game. I would love to see an MMO or Oblivion-style party-based RPG that treated the main characters as NPCs or bosses. You could just start as a peasant, you start the game by seeing what skills you have, if you can sense the True Sorce, try to make it into the White Tower or whatnot. Depending on your path, you might even cross paths with Mat in a tavern gambling! You'd definitely lose all of your money, but that sounds like fun!

You could tell the overarching story in early cutscenes and dialogue and even books scattered around the world. I wouldn't want to see the game take place during the books as that just seems like too much, unless they did an episodic game or something. Maybe an expansion for each book. But yeah, I'd rather play my own character in the WoT world than play one of the existing characters.
