Poll: When are you going next gen?

Now that Fallout 4 and FF7 again have been announced I finally have vague interest in next gen consoles. So Escapists, I ask, when will you get the next gen consoles?

My current plan is to wait for the PS5 to buy a PS4 since I am too cheap to pay more than 10 dollars for a game.

Also if you bought a next gen console what games would you want?

I am almost certainly going to make the jump at some point late this year (we'll see what Black Friday looks like).

I am right now torn between my steady but aging gal the consoles (leaning more PS4 over Xbox One but that could change) or jumping into bed with the hot young thang and betraying my console marriage by going PC (almost fully because of XCOM 2).

Either way, I will likely do both at some point, it's just a matter of which gets to come out to play first.

I went next gen for Bloodborne, and it was worth it.

I got lucky and got a cheque from the taxman though, so it didn't hurt so much wallet-wise.
I have a decent gaming PC as well, so I can kinda switch between the two, but all the general single player AAA games I usually get for the console.

Already did as part of the PC Gaming Master Race. As for actually buying an 8th generation console, probably won't. Neither Sony or Microsoft have any exclusives that interest me enough to drop $400 on their already obsolete boxes, and that situation doesn't look to be changing in the foreseeable future.

Depends. I might pick up a Wii U within the next year or so, although that is not certain yet.

PS4 or Xbox One? No idea. I'm probably going to pick one or both of them up in the twilight of this generation.

I will get a Ps4 for the FF7 REMAKE, that is all. I don't give two shits about anything else on consoles. Plus when they port FF7 to PC I will then turn around and sell the console.

I can tell you I'm not getting a PS4 until The Last Guardian comes out.

I got an Xbox One pretty much instantly, but it did take me a while to seriously consider getting the Wii U. ZombiU had my intrigue, but I waited until late 2014 so I could get Windwaker HD just in time for Bayonetta 2 to come out.

I won't be getting the PS4 until it has games that interest me. I'm just not feeling The Last Guardian. I have Killzone on the PS3 so we'll see whether I like that. Uncharted sucks. I need to play through inFAMOUS properly. I'm not really sure whether Dark Souls is my thing, and I do not get the hype over Bloodborne at all beyond an aesthetic standpoint. Maybe if there was a The Last of Us 2 that doesn't look like crap I'll be interested.

PC and Wii U are keeping me going just fine for now. It's possible that I might get a PS4 if enough good and exclusive single-player titles are released for it. I'm not holding my breath after Infamous though. I loved the ones on PS3 and was incredibly disappointed to see that the new one was merely a reskin, despite the fact that they had an entirely new character and set of powers.

I also think that games look fine on PS3 for the most part, but frame rates are the biggest issue that I have with games recently. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to have changed with the PS4 and Xbone for some reason. So yeah, right now there is very little incentive. I'm guessing that I'll be waiting quite a while before I feel any urge to get a PS4.

I voted "Already Did" because of my purchase of the Wii U at launch. But let's play 2006 and take Nintendo out of the equation for a while to talk about the other two consoles: I haven't updated yet but I'm probably going to pick up a PS4 during Black Friday or possibly on Christmas itself. One or the other...I skipped out on Arkham Origins so Knight is probably what I'll grab with it alongside $20 PS4 games like Killzone: Shadows Fall and inFamous: Second Son (and the probably-less-than $20 Shadow Warrior & Thief which I'm still interested in for reasons)

I've had my Wii U since launch (yes it counts), and I've had my PC for about a year now.

Don't feel the need to get the Xbone and my dad and a couple of my friends have a PS4 if I ever want to play it.

I've been PC for... two generations? Last console I had was a Gamecube. Those were some good times. You wouldn't catch me dead buying a PS/XB to be honest. I flirted with the idea of grabbing a 3DS for the remakes but I forgot how marked up prices are in Australia and decided against it.

Well if certain exclusives earn thier Certification of Not Shit then i might see enough collective reason to get a PS4 by this time next year.

Until then, theres still much to do as a member of the Master Race.

I caved and got a PS4 for Bloodborne. I wasn't disappointed, but the lack of games made the decision more than a bit of a gamble, but at least there are some games coming out that look interesting to me.

I bought a new PC in 2013, so I've been next gen for 2 years now.

I don't even know why people bother with consoles these days. They don't even have the exclusives (Read: Hostages) any more - They're just worse PCs these days.

I'll go "next gen" when I can afford a new PC. Meanwhile, my current PC is easily on par with the current consoles and will suffice until then. If I'm buying a console, it's going to be one from a past "generation".

Well, as far as I'm concerned, next-gen is the generation I don't have yet, so I'll be getting my PS4 when either the next Resident Evil game is exclusive to it (it was the sole reason I got a GameCube back in the day) or The Last Of Us 2, whichever comes first.

I won't be getting an XB1 until they bring out a new Gears of War, not some unnecessary remake or some crappy glorified DLC for the price of an actual game but a real Gears of War 4.

As for PS4, who knows? I didn't get the PS3 until the end of the last generation so it could be a few years until I decide to get a PS4.
