Enjoy it while it lasts consolers as the pendulum of game development is about to swing against you, and in all likelihood, permanently: http://www.cnet.com/news/playing-games-on-the-pc-is-making-a-comeback/

Been part of next gen for 15 years. PC Master Race =D

Might get a WiiU next year when the new Zelda comes out though, if it actually looks good. They tried some new things in LBW, and whilst they weren't bad per se, I wasn't exactly a huge fan of the mixed up formula. I liked Zelda because of that formula. Changing it because its been successful for ages is... An odd choice.

Otherwise though, no need for an XB1 or PS4. Not really interested in their games.

Got a Wii U, PS4 and PC that may warrant an upgrade later this year. So all my bases are covered.

Could even sell my Wii U and PS4 and still be happy, but hey. Smash and Mario Kart is fun and PS4 exclusives are coming that I want to play... that and Natural Doctrine and Omega Quintet were fun.

Well, I guess technically by next month when I buy a Wii U... I probably won't follow that up with a PS4 until either 2016 or 2017, I think, depending if any PS4-related games I like have a limited edition-looking PS4 based around said game...

Other than that, I'm in less of a hurry [in terms] of making getting a [better] PC so that all of my Steam games can, at least, be played properly...

I'm debating taking the plunge...and until E3 rolled around, I was pretty set on a PS4 for the JRPGs and stuff. Which will be a first for me, since I've been something of an MS fanboy in the console market, strictly due to Halo. Guardian's lack of split screen and Halo 4 being really meh kinda shot it in the foot for me so I guess it's PS4 all the way. I mean, it's not like something will happen that makes that decision more difficu-

The backwards compatibility trump card Microsoft pulled sort of threw me for a loop.

I don't know why it has, since I'm staring at my Halo: Reach 360 right now, so I've already got a physical means to play 360 titles.

...Now that I type that out? PS4 sounds good.

Cost is an issue, but some online outlets (Amazon) or payment methods (Paypal) provide means of paying off bigger purchases over time with no additional cost if paid in a timely manner. So. Eh.

New PC may take precedence, though the majority of my 2011 build is still fine (i5-2500k@4.3ghz + 8GB Ripjaws) I'll probably pick up a better video card and sell my current one.

Well I bought a WiiU quite a few months ago. The small library doesn't bother me too much as I like the games I have for it plus I have my Wii games and the virtual console. Annnd there's the issue of sometimes after work I feel too worn out to play games (I don't have a strenuous or hard job but it drains me a lot anyway).

I also have my 3DS and Vita, both of which have been getting quite a bit of love from me lately.

I got a Wii U and an old PC. I'll likely build a new PC before getting a PS4/xbone, since the console exclusives we know of still don't justify the price tag of either.

Not for a long while, as there won't be disposable income for both the console and the games for a long while. A PS4, the console I'm currently thinking about, might not be that much but its games are still a lot more expensive than PC games.

I can tell you I'm not getting a PS4 until The Last Guardian comes out.
Definitely this too, since the only Xbox One exclusive I'm really interested in is coming to PC anyway, Sea of Thieves.

Whenever they release The Witcher 3, Bloodborne and Fallout 4's enhanced/GOTY editions.

I never have an online connection, so want to play the best versions of the games, and in that time a few more good games may come out too.

Voted PC (although I don't really like the term master race).

Would have liked to see an option for "when the consoles actually have some games worth playing". I'm not totally against owning a console, but right now everything I want is on PC except for Rise of the Tomb Raider, and hopefully that will come to PC anyway.

Let's see. If you count the Wii U, I didd uh... 3 years ago.
Otherwise, if you only count the Xbone/PS4, probably never.

If you take into account PC upgrades, I may try and get an R390 towards the end of the year.

I went "Next Gen" almost 2 years ago when the Eight Generation began in earnest.

Since then I've been firmly Current Gen and won't go Next Gen for many years until the start of the Ninth Generation.

This topic does beg the question though... how many years have to pass before people stop referring to something that has already come to pass in the future tense?

I sort of agree with this.
I bought a WiiU at launch and since about 1.5-2 years ago, when Xbox and PS launched, this is now current gen.
I thought this topic would be more about "when do you go next gen" in the sence that when the new consoles are about 6 months from release, how fast do you decide how fast you go next gen. Based on like games at launch, economy (both cost of console/games and own economic situation). But that wasn't the case, apparently.

But to answer the topic, which I already did, I got my WiiU a long time ago, haven't regretted that decision for a moment. So yeah, poll option is "already did".

I have been on PC since 1995 and before that Amiga 500 since around 1990. I will never go consoles. They offer me nothing I can't get otherwise, especially for the price.

If I get one, it will be a PS4, and towards the end of it's cycle.

I have become a pretty jaded gamer and AAA gaming especially I am no longer interested in. For now, I am satisfied with my gaming laptop, mainly mods and indie titles.

Also, it's not really Next Gen. We've had these consoles for years now, they should be considered current gen.

I'm still waiting for one of the consoles to get a game that really makes me want to spend that much. Something that isn't on PC of course since mines great.

I voted PC, if I wanted to play games on a slow PC from 2012, I'd buy one on Ebay.

It will take an exclusive game of truly staggering quality to persuade me to buy either of the two systems. As it is everything is also coming to PC and it's usually better looking/smoother/bigger on the PC version.

Plus the console are no longer simple plug and play devices, with the mandatory installs, updates, subscriptions, multiple accounts and so on. So far this generation is a stinker, we'll see where it goes in years 3 and 4.
