Poll: When do repeat threads start to annoy you?

I know you have seen at least one repeat thread in your forum life, whether it has been here on the Escapist, or some other thread.
I think we can all agree that that period last year when MLP:FiM was picking up steam, the "what is with MLP?" repeat threads were getting very annoying. I think the worst I saw it was when there were three that popped up in a week =|

I don't really care why people make repeat threads (at least for this thread), but you can talk about that and any theories you may have. I want to focus on what kind of repeat threads annoy you, and when they do start to annoy you.

Note: I included the poll because some people would rather throw in their vote and leave without a comment, which is fine. I prefer a discussion about the subject, but whatever tickles your pickle. If the poll options are not that good, I may change them. Like I said, I'd rather a discussion about this, not votes.

Unless it is literally clogging up the forum to the point where it's almost preventing any other form of discussion (see: Mass Effect 3 ending threads), then I never mind. If there is already a thread on the same subject being discussed, I'll see it as unnecessary, but no big deal. If there was a previous thread very much like it that has since died down, then I have no issue with a repeat thread. They only survive as long as people are still interested in them, after all.

Remember Skyrim fever? REMEMBER SKYRIM FEVER?

That got on my nerves. I didn't emerge from Forum Games for quite some time.

Never really.

It's a non-issue, for me. I did notice there were a lot of ME3 ending threads, but I'm just skimming over thread titles for something of interest anyway...so I skim a little further.

No biggy.

Your poll is different then how I see repeat threads, it just matters how often and in what time frame. If someone makes the exact same thread from a year ago it doesn't bother me, but if 20 people make only vaguely similar threads in the same week it will.

Though the repeat threads I hate with a passion are "recommend me [insert system here] games". The answers are always the same, they could have used the search bar. If you make a recommendation thread at least describe what you're looking for.

I pretty much agree with this.
I'd say a few months between a repeat thread is cool(Y).

I mean, if threads weren't repeated, the forums would be long dead by now, I feel.
[small]and ow, I burnt my finger just now:([/small]

Also, the Mass Effect 3 threads are really starting to piss me off. Has meant I can't stay on the Gaming Forums at all. There's only so many ways of saying '0MG I H8 U BIOW4RE U RUINED DA FRANCHIZE!!!!1!111!1!1' before it gets tiresome.

I'm really tempted to make a new thread called when do repeat threads start to annoy you.

Probably when it's at a rate of more than one topic every five days, or the OP has previously made a thread on a very similar topic. The bitchy threads tend to annoy me more though, where someone is complaining either about captchas, ads, a game, or something that's made them lose their faith in humanity.

I bought the collectors edition of Skyrim, and even I found those threads annoying =|

Thank you for addressing this. I wanted to include that in the poll, but couldn't figure out a way to apply it effectively.
I am fine with someone making the exact same thread as one made a year ago, but when they do it in the same month or week (or day >.>), then it gets really annoying.
There is a big difference between two posts about Mass Effect 3's ending in the same day, and a year apart.

Repeat threads are nowhere near as bad as Necro threads. Someone does a hit and run necro and it drives me nuts.

Why does that bother you so much?

Only when there's a fucking ton of the SAME THING in too short a period of time. Aka: relationship thread blooms, DA2 threads, Skyrim threads, and now Mass Effect threads.
Edit: Captcha: you're welcome

I dunno, can you repeat the question? Preferrably in another thread?

OT, repeat threads don't annoy me so much, unless they choke interesting threads with their sheer numbers. Other than that, I just give them a pass if I've already been to a similar one, or I post if that particular thread is new to _me_, which, y'know, happens a lot to a lot of people...

The Reapers are in fact cuttlefish. It's true and such a terrible plot twist! =O

Okay that one should probably be obviously false. You make that kind of reply oh so tempting -__-

But nah, ignore 'em all and just see what you think about it. Personally from what I've seen the complaining is really out of proportion.
actually that makes perfect sense......the cuttlefish were an ancient species enslaved by the protheians...

whoa! I havnt been tripping this badly since sixth sense! :p

anyway as for ME3 Im having an absolute blast so far...so it wont be bothing me untill I can see for myself

Have you been over to the gaming discussion lately? They are really annoying, especially the ME3 ending threads. We get it, they were bad and you have multiple theories, stop repeating yourself!

When they are exact carbon copies. I don't mind variety on X like Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 threads. Favourite enemy? Most annoying part? Etc? But when they're all about the ending, it starts to annoy me.
