Have you been over to the gaming discussion lately? They are really annoying, especially the ME3 ending threads. We get it, they were bad and you have multiple theories, stop repeating yourself!
The status of the ME3 threads is one of the reasons that prompted me to make this thread, but I just got curious as to what people thought about repeat threads. Kind of like my spontaneous book idea thing that I have, "Hey, that would be a great book idea! Wait... where did that even come from? ...Oh well". Its gonna suck when people ask me "Where did you get the inspiration for this?", cuz all I'm gonna have for them is this: ¯\(°_o)/¯

When nothing new comes up. An old discussion with new points is ok.

Especially an old discussion when one side, or just the OP, consistently refuses to acknowledge reality no matter how many time sits pointed out by people who haven't given up yet.

For me, it starts to get annoying when there are more or less many clone threads cluttering up the board. I think the topic could be well covered with three or four BIG dedicated threads and leave it to that. So yeah, when there are dozens of little threads covering the same topic.

Also, something which actually annoys me more than the threads themselves, is when the creators actually say shit like "Yes, this is another *insert name* thread. Get over it." When they say that type of shit at the start, it's almost like they are deliberately trying to irritate people.

They really don't other me at all. I just skim over repeat threads and sometimes they have useful information in them. In the end, the forums just aren't that important to me. If they are cluttered, I just won't visit them until later, no biggie.

This is a complete non issue as the traffic for a subject will increase and decrease based on news repeat threads disappear after a primary has been chosen this poll show complaining for the sake of complaining and is more annoying than seeing a real issue come up more than one.

They don't annoy me. Well. Not a lot. But if there's something you feel strongly about then you should discuss it. If no-ones listening then sure, ask again. It's not like threads you've seen more than once acctually do things to you. If everytime a thread was made everyone on the escapist got an electric shock then there would be real merit in disliking repeat threads. If you personally don't want to contribute don't. This is leading into a rant so I'll stop.

Repeated threads don't really bug me. It just shows that multiple people are interested in a specific topic. Granted, 5 threads that say something like "What's with all of the ponies?" can at times be a little tedious, but It's not something I'd actively be angry at.

When it's something thats a repeat thread, relating to a tonne of repeat threads. Like for example "can someone explain the m3 ending rage to me" .. i think i've seen 3-4 of those... when they could really just of looked at any of the hundreds of other repeat threads that are about the ME3 ending.

I did that once with a Skyrim thread, and the reason I did it was because I wanted to distinguish myself from the other hundred or so Skyrim threads going. It was a kind of "this is a Skyrim thread, but I am not going to just gush about it. I actually have something to say that is not covered by the other threads". I'll try to keep that in mind though so I don't accidentally irritate you

The fact that there is a repeat thread with literally exactly the same OP is just stupid. Seriously. It is literally the exact same thread as this one. I saw it, I lol'd, and I expect a mod to bring down the hammer and dispense some indiscriminate justice on the troll.

Well, repeat threads will start to annoy me when it gets to the point of the thread being practically the same as another that was seen recently.

Also, Mass Effect 3. I can understand people were hyped up about the game, and were annoyed/disappointed by it, but please, keep it to, like, two threads at most.
I think what separates the ME3 threads (and the Skyrim threads when they were still going) from other repeat threads (like, "recommend me a game" for instance) is that there is A LOT of interest in the subject. Since there is so much interest in the subject, people feel that there needs to be a lot of discussion about it, and more threads are better I guess?
I do find it silly that there are so many threads complaining about the ending. It really would make sense for them to just merge together into a super "QQ THE ENDING BLOWS" thread.

In the future can you please include some grammar so your sentences make sense it is really hard to understand what you are trying to say when I have to mentally add grammar to your post just so it makes sense but then again I suppose I should go easy on you since your post count shows that you are relatively new here oh well

Which is why the "whats up with MLP:FiM?" repeat threads are so irritating.
I think I have seen at least 20 of those threads in my time on the Escapist. It is probably closer to 30 or 40, but I don't care to check. What bothers me about those threads, and what most responses in those threads are, are "zomg use the search function", "we have talked about this already", "FUCKING REPEAT THREADS", "this is now a thread about sausages".

Remember Skyrim fever? REMEMBER SKYRIM FEVER?

That got on my nerves. I didn't emerge from Forum Games for quite some time.
Hey! I made a highly successful thread regarding cheese selection prior to the release of Skyrim. We discussed exactly which cheeses we'd be eating between the time of posting and the release of Skyrim. It was a beautiful thing, absolutely beautiful.

Yeah i've seen a good deal of "whats up with the ponies" threads.. At some point though i just stopped taking notice of any Pony related threads because they always get derailed into stupid flame wars.

Your poll is different then how I see repeat threads, it just matters how often and in what time frame. If someone makes the exact same thread from a year ago it doesn't bother me, but if 20 people make only vaguely similar threads in the same week it will.

Though the repeat threads I hate with a passion are "recommend me [insert system here] games". The answers are always the same, they could have used the search bar. If you make a recommendation thread at least describe what you're looking for.
Yeah, the poll is really flawed. If someone makes a thread that had been done a week before or so then it's kinda annoying. If someone repeats a thread that was done a month or more ago then it's not, especially if it's the kind of thread where there will be some changes to what people think. Threads about favourite games, favourite songs and those things can be repeated a few months apart and spark entirely different discussions and opinions. Games and music gets released and old titles get discovered and there is change. However the threads about "Your game of the year 2011" was repeated way too much. Also too many would say Skyrim even though the game was months from being released. There's also the Skyrim threads which were very uninteresting even though all of them weren't repeat threads, just kinda similar. There's the Mass Effect 3 threads running now. It's not how similar a thread is, but the frequency that bothers me.

Would like an 'other' option - When I see 12 threads on the first page about the same subject "SKYRIM JDOAFEIWOGWHNEOG" with a new one popping up every 4 minutes it gets grating.

When the first page of a forum section consists basically only of these threads. It seems to be better now but a short while back the gaming discussion section was pretty much useless because of all the ME3 spam.
I especially can't stand the reaction threads, as I call them, a la 'Am I the only one who doesn't/does like xxx?', 'Why do you like/dislike xxx so much?' or 'Enough with threads about xxx already!' It's like an ever growing avalanche.
