Repeat threads are nowhere near as bad as Necro threads. Someone does a hit and run necro and it drives me nuts.
Why does that bother you so much?
Because most of the time I can ignore repeat threads, but necro'd threads are usually pretty long, and it always seems to be a new user who writes a single post then buggers off, leaving us with a thread that already ran its course.

Just irritates me. I'm okay with it if it is a thread that falls under the three weeks old category. That's fine for resurrecting, since it is still relatively fresh. But when you're getting threads from July 2011, or 2010, it gets ridiculous.

They don't.

Unless it's a repeat of my thread.

Damn those Posters and their freaking time machine!

Your poll is different then how I see repeat threads, it just matters how often and in what time frame. If someone makes the exact same thread from a year ago it doesn't bother me, but if 20 people make only vaguely similar threads in the same week it will.

Though the repeat threads I hate with a passion are "recommend me [insert system here] games". The answers are always the same, they could have used the search bar. If you make a recommendation thread at least describe what you're looking for.
Yeah, the poll is really flawed. If someone makes a thread that had been done a week before or so then it's kinda annoying. If someone repeats a thread that was done a month or more ago then it's not, especially if it's the kind of thread where there will be some changes to what people think. Threads about favourite games, favourite songs and those things can be repeated a few months apart and spark entirely different discussions and opinions. Games and music gets released and old titles get discovered and there is change. However the threads about "Your game of the year 2011" was repeated way too much. Also too many would say Skyrim even though the game was months from being released. There's also the Skyrim threads which were very uninteresting even though all of them weren't repeat threads, just kinda similar. There's the Mass Effect 3 threads running now. It's not how similar a thread is, but the frequency that bothers me.
As I said before, I threw the poll in there more for the people who don't like posting comments (for whatever reason that is), so I don't care if it is the best poll ever. Since you actually typed a comment, you need not worry that it covers every option that could apply to this discussion :D

I think you nailed it right on the head with your comment on frequency. Some threads (like "what is up with MLP:FiM?") don't have the potential to spark new conversations and opinions if they are reposted every 6 months; they could, but I doubt it. Other threads (like "what do you think of the state of the government?") can spark entirely new discussions every few months. The frequency and the content really determine whether it will be annoying or not. But that would fall under the category of "similar thread" rather than "carbon copy".

I'm also told it messes up the filing system. Or something.

*Whistles* Not that I would know anything about that.

It's alittle annoying when you see the mass amounts of threads about whatever is the big game at the time, like Skyrim and Mass Effect 3. I can't remember any game getting as much attention as those two did, though.

I'm starting to feel like a veteran of this site, becuase I always notice repeat threads. There's acouple threads that show up every month or so. The only threads that have gotten annoying were the "Your avatar..." threads.
