I know you have seen at least one repeat thread in your forum life, whether it has been here on the Escapist, or some other thread.
I think we can all agree that that period last year when MLP:FiM was picking up steam, the "what is with MLP?" repeat threads were getting very annoying. I think the worst I saw it was when there were three that popped up in a week =|

I don't really care why people make repeat threads (at least for this thread), but you can talk about that and any theories you may have. I want to focus on what kind of repeat threads annoy you, and when they do start to annoy you.

Note: I included the poll because some people would rather throw in their vote and leave without a comment, which is fine. I prefer a discussion about the subject, but whatever tickles your pickle. If the poll options are not that good, I may change them. Like I said, I'd rather a discussion about this, not votes.

Also does it annoy you when people complain about such insufficient issues

I didn't have the courage to do it, I knew someone would. It can get really meta now if someone copies this one.

Depends. If the previous thread is long dead than I'm fine with it. If it's like the Mass Effect threads where it's the same thread across two pages then I'm annoyed.

So, is this thread reportable, or what?

If so, what a shame OP. You had an unblemished record until now.
Why would this be reportable?

OT: Anyways, I think honestly any repeat thread is a little ridiculous.

I hate to be that guy, but "in the good ole days", repeat threads were fucking destroyed by the community.

I mean honestly, has anyone who joined in the last year or so even seen the phrase "Search Bar Nazi"? Because I never thought I'd say it, but I miss those bastards.

Seriously people, at least check the first page to see if a similar thread has been done. let alone five.

The irony of this thread is agonizing.

On topic:
After I see 5 of a topic outlining a similar purpose I get irritated. For example all of the Mass Effect 3 complaints about the ending, I didn't get Mass Effect 3; based on the complaints I've been seeing on the escapist I'm glad I did not buy it.

They don't annoy me. It's just a part of forum life. The sooner you get over them the better off you'll be. Beating your head against the wall, whining, and posting links to similar threads is useless.

Repeat threads bother me when they occur at a frequent pace, say multiple daily or weekly.

I do however, take more issue with people finding a problem in 'reviving a dead thread'.

So what if the thread is months old? If the topic is still valid and it hasn't been covered in a more recent post, go nuts.

Drives me utterly up the wall when a discussion thread that hasn't been touched for 6 months suddenly gets revived, only to have the majority of new posts come from people who opted to proclaim how foolish it was to post on an old topic.

I'll never understand why it's a bad thing.

Back on topic though, I'm not on the Escapist enough for it to be truly noticeable/bothersome when repeat threads are made. Only time I'm aware of it is when they happen at a daily rate. Then it's just ridiculous. Use the search function :|

Where is our option for "I dont care?"
if you honestly didn't care you wouldn't need an "I don't care" option to check...
Sure you do. Without the option to say they dont annoy you it looks like everyone is annoyed by repeat threads.
But you don't care either way. You don't care about other people's opinions. Or do you?
