Poll: When do you think Final Fantasy will stop?

I know I am beating a dead horse here, but the Final Fantasy series will end when one thing happens, and not a moment sooner: it will end when the franchise stops making money. It's what I like to call the Survivor effect. If something makes insane amounts of money, people will continue to produce things that are similar to it. Not that I'm bashing the series, however. FF3, for the original GameBoy was probably the first game I ever played.

I do have to admit, however, that I kind of am looking forward to Final Fantasy XXX...

Yup Final Fantasy XXX : The Spirits Over There will be alongside Zelda part XVII: Legend of the Ocharinas Aunties Tea Kettle, while new good games get passed over ;D

Actually, I was more thinking it would be something more like Final Fantasy XXX: [Insert Female Lead's Name] Finally Takes Her Top Off For No Adequately Explained Reason but that's where my immature mind goes. And if it IS named that, I shall still play it, but I'll start swearing at the TV every time I see said female lead. Being female, gratuitous boobage just irks me.

I have no objection to boobage or thighage assuming the character is a prostitute of some kind otherwise put some damn clothes on. Half these fantasy women would die of pnuemonia before they made it to an adventure & the armour , grrr the armour pisses me off no end. Gothic plate bikinis ¬.¬

You mean like Yuna's wardrobe change from FFX to FFX-2? Though, to be honest, I've never played FFX-2, but just googling her gunner's outfit makes me wonder how she isn't freezing. It also led me to the conclusion that whoever designed that outfit couldn't have been a girl, because there's no way in hell that any girl would design a shirt like that.

Hopefully they will make a couple good ones now, because they won't stop until they get ABSOLUTELY no sales on a new Final Fantasy game.

And we all know there will always be at least one person who just wants to own every FF for completionists sake.

Although they may eventually rename the series Near-Final Fantasy or Almost Final Fantasy...

Maybe even Forever Fantasy...

Actually FF isn't very popular in Japan, not as much as Dragon Quest (which isn't very popular here.)

FF: Big in USA, not Japan.

Personally I prefer Dragon Quest since it's more about the journey (quest) than the story.

I have a deep, seething hatred for Final Fantasy fans because their willing to buy the same exact game year after year. The same people who will buy Final Fantasy brand toliet paper if it has Cloud's face on it. The same people who claim that Final Fantasy 7 was the BEST GAME EVAR!!!one1!!, The same people who claim that they cried when Aeris dies, the same people who claim Sephiroth is the most amazing thing ever to be created.

These are not Final Fantasy fans. These are FF7 fanboys. The beauty of the one-shot nature of Final Fantasy is that each game tells a different story, in a different universe, with suitably different gameplay (and, yes, gameplay does change even though the combat doesn't seem to), which makes it kind of odd why you'd proclaim that it's the "same game year after year".

I guess journey as in through most of the DQ games you have a rough guess who the bad-guy is and the game builds on that suspense, wheras in FF it's just a spiraling series of events (it can often get convoluted too). The only FF I ever really cared for was VI, it's truly amazing. The rest are'nt personally that great, I've always liked EarthBound and DQ better.
