The former is actually just an issue of semantics, primarily as to whether we should redefine the word feminism now that the civil rights movement has already more or less done everything it set out to do, and most of the louder clinger-ons actually want flat out superiority over men. The word "feminazi" is doing a stand-in until one side argues the other into submission.
That really only happens in the fevered imaginations of Rush Limbaugh and FOX News commentators. I will never understand why "feminist" is a dirty word for some gamers.
Neglecting to acknowledge the illness among your own ranks makes you just as guilty as people who mindlessly bash the concept without even knowing what it has represented in the past.

Not that it would have a huge effect on the situation overall, of course. But you would be viewed as less hypocritical from those of us in the middle ground.
People who think men and women should be treated as equals are "in my ranks," because that's basically what feminism boils down to. (Feminism =/= suffrage, btw.)
Problem is, you don't really get to decide who or what represents feminism. You can point to a definition all day, that's the exact reason why I said it's an argument of semantics. That all boils down to arguing over the meaning of the word.

Nutjobs like Bitingbeaver who casually tell people they wish they could go back in time and abort their now-teenage son because he looks at pornography and masturbates(which means he is instantly a rapist now and forever) are going to be more relevant in the eyes of people whose earliest memories are of a world where women have had equal rights. Kind of like everyone born in the last 25-35 years. You can't do a thing about it.

Edit: this is really off topic and probably should be taken elsewhere.

Yeah, speaking in technical definitions it's pretty sexist, but if you don't recognize Duke Nukem as a complete over-the-top, silly-bollocks, piss take you're well missing the point.

I really doubt that

- Many guys will think they can get away with the sort of shit Duke can pull off, IRL.

- Many girls are going to look at the women in Duke Nukem and think, "Shit, well, I guess this is my lot in life, better drop out of school and start stripping".

Saying "bitingbeaver" defines feminism is like saying that Bin Laden defines religious people. A lot of beliefs could be considered "feminist," and the vast, vast majority of feminists do not fit the FOX News stereotype.
Yeah, and shockingly, some people are going to associate all of the Muslim religion with him because it's their only interaction with that religion. Anyway if you want to continue this send me a PM, if not I'm done cause it's all the way off topic and getting the hammer in my own thread would be pretty embarassing.

I wonder what magical country you live in where everyone had equal rights in the 1980's. Sounds like heaven. Hell, less than 10 years ago, the DEA and the highway patrol made a sport out of pulling over blacks on the New Jersey Turnpike. And just a scant few years ago, thousands of female employees won a class-action sexual harassment lawsuit against Wal-Mart.

You live in a fantasy world if you think that everyone is treated equally all the time or that we've had true equality for a third of a century.

Again, take it to PMs or drop it. It's so far off the topic it's not even relevant to the entire forum.
