We all here are gamers of some sort, don't deny it. The question is, at what point did you become a gamer. Was it the stage where you first picked up your first console; or was it later, when you became allergic to the sun and could not bear to be without your incandescent glowing monitors?

For me, my first console was the SNES, however, my life as a gamer did not start until the release of the N64. Simply because I am of a younger generation than most old school gamers.

When was your first, and what drove you to avid playing?

When I was 5 or 6 I played Tekken 3 on a PS1 - from then I was hooked. Although my first real experiance with games came from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on whatever console it was on (the name escapes me).

I voted for 16-bit, despite the fact that the first console we got was the N64. My cousins had a SNES which we used to play all the time, and I was a big fan of the Amiga too. I reckon Goldeneye's the game that really got me hooked.

I started in the Red alert 1 and warcraft 2 era(No idea where on that poll this is placed), but around 13 years ago.

Ah, the good ol' PS1. It still worked until last year too. The amount of times I completed Carsh Bandicoot Warped was just silly.

The first consoles i played were 8 bit.
I had a Sega Master System II as a kid, and played NES and SNES at friends (and even Sega Mega Drive).

However, it wasn't until the introduction of the *dramatic silence* Playstation arrived that I became a proper gamer.
From that I moved on to the Playstation 2 and onwards to the Playstation 3.
Although I am considering an Xbox 360, just so I can get Monkey Island on it.
PC has been on/off through my gaming "carrer".
So I voted 32-bit era.
