Anyways, I...actually don't think I was ever RickRolled. I knew about it, but I never had one directed at me/never fell for one myself. I'm generally pretty cautious when it comes to clicking stuff people tell me to click.

And considering the question of this topic is basically "When was the last time you were RickRolled?" I don't count clicking that link as being a right-proper RickRoll.

Nowadays it's mostly Darude - Sandstorm.

Hmm, last time I inflicted it on others was maybe two or three years ago. I was running a dice-and-paper game for some friends. One of them said "something something theme song for our team," and I called that up on YouTube.

Last May I had a part in a play. It was a comedy about 5 women at a wedding and their personal hijinks. So the preshow mix playing for the audience was designed like a 'best of' playlist of wedding songs, which included Rick Astley's magnum opus. It was hilarious every single time.

I'm amazed that the daily view statistics are telling me that this video's getting more views as time has gone on rather than being really high in 2009-2011 then slowing down a bit.

But it was a few months ago I last watched it, mostly because I chose to.

Edit: And thank Christ that the YouTube comments are mostly talking about the Rick Roll. Go back to most 80s hit songs on YouTube and try not to die of nostalgia overexposure where people act like shit things now didn't exist back then.

Funnily I was actually able to pull off a Rick Roll on my friend, he found that video 100 memes in 10 minutes, or something like that. It morphed in to a conversation about old internet stuff, and with these exact words I was able to link him to it. "Well this is interesting"

I think it was about 10 minutes before he responded because he could not believe he was able to be suckered in to it.
