I'm about to drop another 500 on gaming hardware upgrades, because for me, subtelty is something that happens to other people. I of course, am buying online because retail sucks in my country (Australia)

Where do you buy hardware?

Online. There's a shop near my university that is almost always open and has kickass prices. I just order and they have the stuff in a couple of days, tops, and I pick them up. Considering I buy something new every couple of months, I get special treatment.

Price wise or customer service wise?

I've got a few good shops fairly close to me that I get major upgrades from, for little stuff I use pccasegear though.

Online, newegg is pretty much the best place to buy stuff if you're in the US.
Primarily because stuff for gaming rigs is either hideously overpriced/crappy/or just not available in most retail stores anymore. Now if you're talking common parts like a harddrive or something retail can usually be the same price.

I don't know if it's available in the US, but I tend to buy all my stuff from Novatech.

Just as Rednog said. Newegg. Quite literally one of if not the best place to buy computer hardware or almost any other electronic equipment. Generally good prices, wide range of choices, good combo sales.

Sounds like a sales pitch but it's true. Almost all of my computer hardware purchases over the years have been through Newegg.

Yeah PCCG is great, particularly for fans, but I also live around the corner from a very large Centrecom, and down the road from an MSY (avoided whenever possible). I also work near the Malvern Scorptec and CPL isn't too far from me either. I use a mix of online and retail, but I am spoilt for retail options.

I don't even remember how I stumbled over Newegg, but I'm pretty sure it's one of the best things to happen to my wallet. One day I will build a god box desktop PC, and all the parts will be ordered from Newegg.

Umart.com.au
They are based in south east Queensland but they will deliver anywhere. There are others just as good around but these are the guys I use. Also, check each store as they stock different stuff.

If the pricing wasn't so fucking stupid, the retailers would see more money.

Retail. I know very little about PC hardware, but I like doing things myself, so they give me parts that work and I put them together. Since the last almost 3 years now I've taken my business to the same shop, and I'm getting quite a few advantages from that. They'll give me the occassional free thing (like adapters, or USB sticks), and fast repairing when I mess things up.

I realize I could find the infomation online aswell, but that doesn't have any assurance it'll work. If something doesn't work like they say, I just go back there and have it switched to something that does.

Customer service is usually quite good over here. It has to be considering the prices they charge sometimes.

OT: The internet usually, because I seem to go after weird stuff. Someone finally made a wireless Guncon 2 with recoil, and I can't imagine that being sold at JB Hifi.

Since my gaming hardware is PC related, most of it comes from Newegg. I'd say the breakdown is something like:

80% Newegg
15% Amazon
5% Ebay

I used to zipzoomfly quite a bit in years past but they suck now.

agreed.

trying to get retail computer parts you are either

A) stupid and don't know what your doing
B) really desperate or getting a quick HDD

newegg and tigerdirect and amazon tend to fill all my needs quite nicely.
