Not my dream job, but i dunno wat i really want to do so this gets me by til i figure it out.

I'm a Maths student at university in the UK, so I'm not actually earning anything apart from my student loan. However I am interested in gaming development, in particular Level Design (you can guess what my career choice will be...).

I'm an English/Russian/Polish translator. I teach these languages occasionally as well. Don't know why I ended up studying linguistics, I guess I always had a way with languages, somehow...
It's a secure and quite well-paid job. The biggest downside of being a translator is the fact that you work at home, sitting in a comfortable armchair, and thus have no motivation to go out, which is devastating for your social life. I've got an outgoing personality, as they say, and suffer terribly from not meeting people. Good thing there's a proper pub nearby. ;]

I work part-time for UPS while attending school. I load up the outbound trucks that head to other cities. And for the record, most of us don't throw the boxes around. ;P
I worked for UPS for two years while I was going through school. Great health insurance, shitty hours (I was graveyard shift) and good exercise. Try to switch to the sort if you can, it makes the shift seem much faster.
I work the night shift, so the hours are quite good for me, particularly with me being a full-time student. I don't like sorting much, personally, so I stick with loading. I work a really busy trailer to help the night go quicker. Working easy ones is awesome for like a week before you want to die of boredom. lol

I am cleaning offices part-time to afford living while studying in university. It's quite a relaxing job even if the pay sucks.

Oh hell. Ummm, someone please convert to U.S. Dollars please so I can actually answer the poll. I was told there wouldn't be math...

Anyway, I'm a writer and I do it because I possess a real talent for it that I further-improved through college. Also, I just plain like to, so that works out there.

Hm, i work in a warehouse for books.... i unpack and pack them... for a year now. The pay is horrible and the job is boring, undemanding but stressful (and makes me insane).

And i think i am doing this because i have some mental condition or something, no other explanation why i am doing this to myself. I mean i didn't get my Bachelor degree (i am a horrible lazy student), but i am a fully trained "technical assistent for computercrap"... sigh.

Before i went to the college i had a sweet internship/"soonajob" in customer support in a software firm... made there nearly the same money as intern as i get now and would now be programmer. BUT NO I HAD TO BE a "Master of Computer Science" and fail *g*

ah well, and cash: before taxes and healthcare ~17000 ?... which means after taxes and healthcare: not much

These things happen to many people so you shouldnt be too hard on yourself. It's never too late to try again.

I work as a Store Manager in a shoe store. I'm the conscience everyone hates because I make them buy things when they shouldn't :) The environment is good, I've had two payrises since Jan 08 and two bonuses...the most recent being $1500. The bosses are excellent and my hard work is recognised.

I am a project manager and account handler for a software company just south of london.
We've devloped a specialist pices of software for advertising agencies to manage all areas of their business from the ground up. I actually think it's pretty good which is a good stat, I do believe in the product and its potential and our dev team are just plain genius.

this was a complete accident (a very long story so i won't bore you with it) but a kinda tripped and stumbled into it and now i actually enjoy it.

my chosen profession would have been music though, production, running a studio maybe, just something patently creative.

My job does allow for creativity though which is good, and i can thank this company for introducing me to my hubby

I'm currently working at the center for the arts at my university. Tech crew. It's a good time, we get stuff done and the pay isn't bad. Plus, once the season gets going (we're getting done renovations at the moment), I'll get to run lights and sound for shows! :D

Plus Dimitri Martin is coming next month. :O

I am working full time at a retail store for AT&T mobility getting paid less than 20k(US) a year as a sales support representative. I am working here because out of the 200 jobs I have applied for it was the only one that was willing to hire me since I graduated from college.

Honestly it makes me very depressed that after all the work I have done my dreams are unreachable and I will never go anywhere in life because no one wants to invest in me to let me do my dream jobs.
Whats the dream job?
