Another couple of opportunities id like to explore is a deadly virus, with at least 1/100 survival rate at best, would definitely clean up the earth and the result would be very interesting. the movie symbolizing just such a virus is well placed in Carriers, a australian B-movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0806203/

Another idea i would love to see executed better than in the day of the triffids was blindness. If everyone went blind, that would be an apocalypse wouldnt it. in my opinion movie Blindness shows it great http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0861689/

Also as per movie The Quiet Earth http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089869/ i would just love to be that man. Infact when people fear apocalypse i welcome in. Id love to be left alone in the world to wander around. Realistically, id probably be the fat man who couldnt outrun a zombie, but hyphotetically, id love to be the sole survivor.

I'd say Ragnarok. Not only is there a positive outcome to it all, we human beings take an active part in it alongside the gods themselves in a glorious battle. What's not to like?

Zombie, because its kind of a classic at this point. Lets me kill stuff before my own inevitable demise, slim chance of society rebuilding, but still a chance.

But I picked Other. the global pandemic, 1 in 1000 survival rate, seems like the most viable way of simply undoing modern civilization without actually ending mankind. Giving me a chance to rebuild, assuming I live, and to have an actual impact on society. But more importantly, reducing the population to post-apocalyptic levels without the risk of being eaten by zombies or suffering from Leukemia.

Okay, short version: asteroids blow up major cities and give me super-powers.
